Then he worked maintenance for the Rib Lake school district for a period of time until ill health forced his retirement. He also owned and operated Night Owl Services in the surrounding area for a period of time. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, camping, his dogs, and spending time with family and friends.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: After his education, he worked on the family farm in the town of Little Black where he farmed until moving to the city of Medford in 1963. During and after farming he also worked at Damm Brothers sawmill in Stetsonville, Colby Box factory and Midway Telephone Company in Medford as a lineman and repairman until his retirement. They moved to the Colby Retirement Community in 2010. He served at one time, on the Liberty State Graded school board and the Dorchester Co-op board. He enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, making rag rugs and tying quilts.

He moved back to the Rib Lake area and began working for Hurd Millwork in Medford, as a millworker for 32 years until his retirement in 1991. Al played in various bands including the Ray Becker Orchestra and the Medicanes & Frankies Meloderes. Al enjoyed woodworking, playing the drums, hunting and fishing.
