MARGARET M. STEEVENS

 

Margaret M. Steevens, 89, formerly of Medford passed away on February 27, 2017 at Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells. Margaret was born on June 25, 1927 in town of Little Black to Joseph and Julia Zak. She was a Graduate of Liberty elementary school, Dorchester High School, and Taylor County Normal Teachers College.

Margaret taught school in Taylor and Ozaukee counties prior to her marriage to Clifford Steevens on June 23, 1956 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville Wisconsin.

In addition to her husband and parents Margaret is preceded in death by her three brothers, Frank, Rudy and Tony Zak, and one sister, Anna Gerlick.

Margaret is survived by one son Alan (Glenda) Steevens of St. Louis MO, two daughters; Mary Steevens of Bloomingdale, IL, and Ann (Jim Kunick) of River Forest, IL., one grandson, Nicolas Steevens of St. Paul, MN.  She is further survived by two brothers, Victor (Betty) Zak of Abbotsford, Mike Zak of Stetsonville, and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 6, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Phil Juza officiating; burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday, March 6 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. GERALD J. MAGSAM

Gerald J. Magsam, 80, of Medford, passed away Sunday February 26, 2017 at Aspirus Care and Rehab Center in Medford.
Gerald was born November 19, 1936 in Euclid, MN to Ray and Edna Magsam. He attended elementary school at District 293 in Euclid and was a 1954 graduate of the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN. In 1955 Gerald married Bonita Bratten.
After his education, Gerald was a grain farmer in Euclid, MN, and then went on to dairy farm in Birnamwood, Marion, and Pulaski, WI areas until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In 1946 Gerald heard the Gospel of Christ, and followed it throughout the rest of his life.
He is survived by his children: Gary (Debbie) Magsam of Wisconsin Rapids, Gene(Linda) Magsam of VanCovver, WA, Gwen (Jim Willkomm)Rabe- Dombowsky of Medford, Greg Magsam of Shawano, and Gerry Magsam of Cecil, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Gerald is further survived by his siblings: Bertha Magsam of Arkansas, Elmer (Marilyn) Magsam of Baldwin, WI, Marlys (Bill) Martin of Oklahoma City, OK, Larry (Carol) Magsam of Emporia, KS, Dean (Kathy) Magsam of Sulphur, OK, Sylvia (Bill) Nueske of Wittenberg, Rodney (Donna) Magsam of Northfield, MN, Mark (Pam) Magsam of Palm Desert, California, and William Magsam of Phoenix, AZ.
He is preceded in death by: his Parents, and brothers Gilbert, Danny and Marvin Magsam.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM, Friday March 3, 2017 at the Stetsonville Centennial Center, 412 E Centennial Avenue, Stetsonville, WI, 54480. Perry Pearson and Robert Eberhart will officiate. Visitation will be held prior to the service, Friday morning at the Stetsonville Centennial Center from 10:00 AM until 12:15 PM. Burial will follow in the Baldwin Cemetery, Baldwin, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Gerald can be given to his family, for designation at later date.

He enjoyed his 2 cats, music, playing guitar, watching movies, spending time with his son, girlfriend, family and friends.

LAWRENCE L. SCHLAIS, JR.

Our father, Lawrence Schlais Jr., passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. He was a man of faith and great love of life. We believe his positive attitude of living and being an example for his children carried throughout his 89 plus years. We were extremely blessed to have him as long as we did. He represented being the perfect role model for all of us and we were continuously learning from him.
His life began on March 8, 1927. He was born at home in the Town of Bern, at Gad. He learned at a young age, the meaning of hard work. His parents owned the Gad Bar, which at one time included a General Store, Dance Hall, Baseball Diamond and a family farm. At age 18, he entered the US Army, just days after his high school graduation in 1945. His tour of duty enabled him to see Africa, France, Belgium and Germany. He often talked about being a WW II Veteran and Dad did get to enjoy a trip on the ”Never Forgotten Honor Flight” on October 4, 2010. He said “What a homecoming they gave us at the airport.” He was impressed how they really honored the veterans.
After the war, Dad came home and found his sweetheart, Betty J. Knorr. They were married June 10, 1950 and shared 58 ½ years together. One of their favorite past times was dancing of all sorts, especially the Fox Trot. They also frequently sold vegetables from their gardens, at the farmer’s market in Medford and Marshfield. They were life-long members of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford. They were inseparable until January 5, 2009, when we lost Mom. It broke his heart. He told us that if he could warn us kids of one thing in life, it would be of how heartbreaking it is to lose your spouse.
Dad was a Life Member of the Stetsonville American Legion and the North American Hunting Club. He enjoyed farming, dancing, polka music, gardening, hunting and fishing.
Dad had a full life by raising five children on the family farm. We are Peggy (Darrell) Korth of Fort Atkinson, Larry (Wenda Schwoch) of Minneapolis, MN, Lenard (Pat Short) of Medford, Donna (Darwin) Zielke of Medford and Irene (Greg) Griepentrog of Marshfield.
His grandchildren are Jacob (Amy) Korth, Adam (Charity) Korth, Luke (Melissa) Korth, Laura (Ervin) Ulrich, Lee (Jessica Murphy) Schlais, Linda Wittenberger, Malinda Zielke, Eric (Aydee) Zielke, Sarah Zielke, Erin (Jessie) Edwards and Tyler (Barbie) Griepentrog.
His great grandchildren are Desirae, Emma, EJ, Lily, Isaac, Alice, Amira, Ayana, Adelei, Brynlee, Brecken and Annika.
Also surviving are siblings, Harold Schlais of Abbotsford, Galen (Grace) Schlais of Medford and Marvel Jean (Merlin) Kobs of Spencer. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Jenny Knorr of Marion, NC and Margaret Schlais of Wausau. And lastly his yellow lab, Toby.
He was predeceased by his wife, Betty, his parents Lawrence Sr. and Ella (Busche) Schlais, siblings, Glen and Patricia Schlais. His brothers/sisters-in-law, Jeanette (Bud) Wedeman, Grace (Herme) Pagel, Roy (Cordy) Knorr and Reuben Knorr.
With Dad being a farmer all his life and he loved to watch things grow, we are asking in lieu of flowers, please plant a tree in Dad’s honor.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Medford with military rites to follow. Visitation will be from 9 AM until the time of services at 11 AM at the church.
We will miss you, our mentor.

ERIK JAMES KLEMM

Erik James Klemm was born Monday, February 13th, at 3:33 AM to parents Cole and Jennifer Klemm.  He weighed 1 pound 10 ounces and was 12 inches.  Erik was able to experience his Mommy and Daddy holding and kissing him before passing away peacefully in his parent's arms at 5:10 AM.  Heaven's gain was our loss when our angel was called by our Lord.  Erik came into this world too soon and was taken too soon.  Though he was here a short time he touched many lives and will forever be loved.  He will always be his parent's precious angel and Finley's little angel brother and they will hold him again in Heaven one day. 

Erik is survived by his loving parents, Cole and Jennifer, big sister Finley, maternal grandparents, Lon and Linda Rundquist, paternal grandparents, Kevin and Julee Klemm, great grandparents, Jim Zuleger, Nelda Klemm, and Betty Rainaldo, Aunts and Uncles, Mike and Jess Sperl, Travis and Amy Gilles, Aaron and Anne Rogers, and cousins Bennett and Brady Sperl and Marshall Gilles.  

Erik is further survived by numerous great aunts and uncles.

Erik is preceded in death by great grandparents, Robert Rainaldo, Jim and Polly Rundquist, Bunny Klemm, and Joan Zuleger, and great uncle Dean Klemm.

A private, family service will be held at Hemer Funeral Home on Saturday, February 25th.

ADALA A."TOOTIE" KONIECZNY

Adala A. "Tootie" Konieczny, 93, of Medford, passed away Thursday February 16, 2017 at Aspirus Care and Rehab Center in Medford. Adala was born March 19, 1923 in Hortonville, WI to Harold and Margaret (Lippert) Collar. She married Stanley Konieczny on September 30, 1950. Stanley passed away April 2, 2016. She is survived by her children: Kathleen (Bill) Semanko  of Junction City, KS, Karen (Lee) Paul of Medford, Linda (Don) Horgen of Almena, Judy Bogdonovich of Stanley, and Daughter in Law Sally Konieczny of Owen, Brother Donald Collar of Neenah, 14 Grandchildren, 3 Step Grandchildren, 35 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild. She is further preceded in death by her son Ronnie Konieczny, siblings: Louis, Willard, Victor, Francis and Eugene, infant brother Carl and sister Marion. Adala loved spending time with those closest to her heart, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the Brewers, spending time in her garden and traveling to different casinos. She also enjoyed the occasional glass or two of beer and wine. She took pleasure in traveling and taking trips to visit family. She loved music and played guitar and sang with her brothers.  She spent most of her life at home raising her kids or working on the farm. She worked for a number of years at Master Package, in Owen, before retiring. Cremation rites have been accorded, a celebration of life will take place at a later date. THOMAS "TOM" A. NOLAND

Thomas “Tom” Allen Noland, 50, of Rib Lake, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 14, 2017.
Tom was born October 30, 1966 in Marshfield, WI to Robert and Delores (Baronsky) Noland. He attended Medford Area Schools, and was a 1985 graduate of Medford Area Senior High School. Tom married Patricia “Patty” Kennedy on April 20, 1991 in Prentice.
Tom is survived by his wife Patty,  his children: Katey (Wilson Fowle), Lizzie, and Jake Noland all at home.
He is further survived by his Parents: Robert and Delores Noland of Medford, Siblings: Brian (Lisa) Noland, Galen Noland, Susan (Larry Peterson) Noland all of Medford, Brothers and Sisters in law: Tammy (Charles) Johnson of Westboro, Kathleen (Kreg) White of Ogema, Bryan (Pam) Kennedy of Medford, Mike (Jolene) Kennedy of Westboro, Mary (Brian) Quante of Withee, Billy (Becky) Kennedy of Westboro, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Tom is preceded in death by his Grandparents Carl and Marcella Noland and Frank and Nellie Baronsky, and Father and Mother in Law Wallace and Audrey Kennedy.
Tom loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, four wheeling, snowmobiling, riding his Ranger, and most recently ice fishing. He was a great hunting guide for family and friends. Tom was the Owner and Operator of Noland Logging, Inc., where he enjoyed having his son Jake work by his side. He enjoyed attending his children’s extra curricular activities especially volleyball and hockey games.
Tom loved his family and was very proud of them; especially for Katey becoming a Registered Nurse, Lizzie’s academic accomplishments, and Jake’s hunting skills.
He was a member of the Great Lakes Timber Producers of America, Forest Industry Safety and Training Alliance, Member and Sponsor of Silver Creek Sportsman’s Club, and a Lifetime Member of The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon, Friday February 17, 2017 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Father Phil Juza will officiate. Burial will follow at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Kennedy, Bryan Kennedy, Billy Kennedy, Tim Noland, Christopher Noland, Luke Peterson, Ron Arkola, and Mike Brandner. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday February 16 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford chapel, and also on Friday from 11 AM until the time of Mass at 12 noon at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.  A Rosary Service will follow the visitation beginning at 7 PM Thursday night at Hemer Funeral Home.
