He then worked for Ford Motors with Arnold Schlais, the Bunte Candy Company and American Spring and Wire Company of Chicago for a period of time. They then owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Browning in 1942 until 1989. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball at Gad and later was Manager of the teams. Bub also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War having served for 21 years until his retirement from the military in 1969. He returned to Medford and worked at Ruesch Funeral Home for 1 year. In 1970 he started employment with the Taylor Co. Highway Dept. and took over as commissioner in 1974 which he did until his retirement in 1991. In his retirement he served on the Taylor Co. Board and several board committees for a period of years until present. He was very active in the planning stages of the new Holy Rosary School recently completed. He enjoyed fishing in Canada and bowling.

He started his own business in 1984 doing remodeling and small construction. In 1987 the family returned to the Medford area were he worked at Conseco, and most recently Blount Mfg./now Caterpillar, Inc. in Prentice until ill health recently forced him to stay home. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting, 4-wheeling, watching movies and spending time with family and friends.

Past community activities include United Way of Taylor Co., Secretary of Medford Area Development Association, Chairperson of the Miss Medford Pageant for 9 years and was instrumental in starting the Medford Welcoming Committee. She enjoyed traveling and spending time at her cottage on Lake Holcombe.
