JOYCE G. RAMM


Joyce G. Ramm, 80, of Medford, passed away Sunday April 28, 2019 at the REM Group Home in Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday May 3, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford. Rev. Dan Iwinski will officiate. Burial will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron, Ralph, and Neal Zuleger, Don Ramm, Dean and Mark Hommel, honorary pall bearers will be Kevin Zuleger and Ray Ramm. Visitation will be held that morning from 10:00 to the time of service.

Joyce was born August 27, 1938 in Medford to Wilhelm and Gertrude (Zastrow) Ramm.
She grew up on the family homestead in Medford.  Joyce spent most of her life as her Mother’s companion and also lived in Oshkosh for a period of time, where she worked at Goodwill. She was employed by Black River Industries, and enjoyed playing bingo, doing crafts and crocheting.

Joyce is survived by her sister Betty Zuleger of Medford, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her Parents; siblings, Erma Ramm, Ferdinand Ramm, Ruth Korth, Clarence Ramm and Ella Hommel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Joyce can be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice.

RANDY J. KOLLMAN

Randy J. Kollman, 67, of Medford, formerly of Minneapolis, MN, passed away Thursday April 25, 2019 at Marshfield Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Randy was born April 11, 1952 in Kasota, MN to Norman and Delores (Tate) Kollman. He is a 1970 graduate of Edison High School in Minneapolis. He married Linda L. Schmitt on April 19, 1980. Linda survives.
He is further survived by his loving dog Kayla, Siblings: Richard Kollman of Princeton, MN, Roger (Roseanna) Kollman of Dalbo, MN, and Cheryl "Kid" (Bruce) Jensen of Forest Lake, MN, further survived by his In Laws, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his Parents and an infant Brother John.
Following high school Randy enlisted in the Marine Corps and served as a helicopter mechanic. He then went on to work roofing and construction for several years. He then joined the Army and worked as a mechanic in the motor pool, and was stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He served a total of 8 years in the military. He then attended college and worked part time for the VA. Randy went on to work as a truck driver over the road for several different trucking companies. In 1997, he and Linda moved to Medford and Randy drove for Weather Shield. Randy retired after several years due to health complications. In retirement he owned and operated Past & Present Video in Medford, putting VHS to DVD, producing slide shows and recording video and photography.
He loved fishing and was an avid artist of painting, drawing, wood working and photography. He thoroughly enjoyed tracing his family history genealogy. In his younger years he enjoyed playing darts in leagues and tournaments with his dart team the "Spring Out Boys."
Cremation rites have been accorded, and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to the family.

WILDA "BILLIE" M. BRUNN


Wilda “Billie” M. Brunn, 89, of Medford, passed away on April 25, 2019 at Aspirus Care and Rehab.

Billie was born on June 22, 1929 to Elmer and Helen (Ziemer) Felten in the Town of Browning. She was a graduate of Medford High School. She married Clair “Fuzzy” Brunn on September 17, 1949; he preceded Billie in death on October 15, 2010.

After high school Billie worked as a secretary at Hurds. She then became a stay at home mother. In the late ‘60s she became a secretary at the Medford High School. She was also a cosmetic consultant for Mary Kay for 35 years.

Billie was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Ladies Golf, and the Aspirus Volunteer Program. She was a lifelong bridge player. She also served as the Taylor County Memorial Hospital Board of Director’s secretary through the merger with Aspirus.

Billie is survived by her children, Connie Brunn of Honolulu, HI, Joan (Louie) Crisostomo of Milwaukee, Carol (Timothy) Sullivan of Eleva, and Sue (Rick) Scholl of Paso Robles, CA; grandson, Brendan Sullivan of Boston; step-grandchildren, Monica (Bao) Ho of Austin, TX, Louis (Janice) Crisostomo of Milwaukee, Amanda Kimble of Chicago, IL, and Brittany and Ryan Scholl of Paso Robles; 7 great-grandchildren. Billie is further survived by many other family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Billie is preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Hirsch.

Funeral Services for Billie will take place on Monday, May 6, at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor James Krueger officiating; burial will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Visitation will take place on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Hemer Funeral Home – Medford Chapel from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

 PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: After raising two children on her own while Vernon was in WWII, they eventually settled on the Frey family dairy farm in the Town of Browning.   Lucille worked as a homemaker during this time, raising seven children.  In the 1990’s they moved to the City of Medford, where she continued to enjoy a very active life.  Lucille did beautiful embroidering, and she always loved the occasional trips to casinos, as well as playing cards.   She was an avid Packers and Brewers fan,  and looked forward to the games that she attended with her children.   In 2012, Lucille moved to Country Gardens where her passion became BINGO !

AGNES M. CARSTENSEN


Agnes (Aggie) M. Carstensen, 92, of Town of Little Black, died April 20, 2019 at Aspirus Care and Rehab in Medford.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Michael Hayden officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM. Internment of cremated remains will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Aggie was born August 22, 1926 in Medford. She was of the Catholic faith and  completed her education at Holy Rosary Catholic School. She worked at Medford Laundry for 6 years and then Weathershield for 22 years. She married Peter Opachan in October of 1945 and was later divorced. She married Ray Carstensen June 29, 1968, and he survives.

Aggie loved her Shih Tzu/Poodle dog, Miss Molly, who survives. Aggie also enjoyed fishing, gardening, crocheting, and canning vegetables, especially Saur Kraut.

Aggie is survived by her husband, Ray, Children: Barbara (Larry) Born of Medford, Patricia (Larry) Dazenski of Los Lunas, New Mexico, Mary Hjelm of Anoka, Minnesota, and Peter (Becky) Opachan of Summerfield, North Carolina. 6 Grandchildren, 3 Step-Grandchildren,  7 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Step-Great-Grandchildren, Sister: Catherine Dassow of Medford-Whittlesey, Sister-in-Law: Margaret Stauner of Greenwood, Brothers-in-Law: Manny Gillis of Medford, Baldwin (Sandy) Carstensen of Milwaukee, and Harold Carstensen of Merrill. She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Susan (Kellner) Stauner, 6 sisters, and 8 brothers, two of whom died in infancy.

LARRY R. SALZMAN

Lawrence R. “Larry” Salzman, 90, of Medford, passed away April 4, 2019 surrounded by his family at Marshfield Medical Center, under the care of Marshfield Palliative Care.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday April 9, 2019 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Father Phil Juza officiated the mass. Burial was held at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Westboro, WI. Visitation took place at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM
Larry was born April 25, 1928 to Joseph and Mary (Niziolek) Salzman at Cassel, WI. He was the oldest of 12 siblings. He received his education at St. Mary’s Catholic School and the Technical School in Wausau. At the age of 16 he drove a milk route for his father. In 1948 he moved to Westboro and bought the Shell Gas Station, at the same time he also owned a pulp truck hauling logs to Tomahawk for loggers in the area. His marriage to Mary Jean Bundick took place December 10, 1951 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rib Lake, WI.
After their marriage Larry sold the business in Westboro and bought some gravel trucks. He worked for various contractors in road construction. They also owned a farm West of Medford where they raised their family. In 1974 they sold the farm. Larry continued to work road construction in Illinois and the family settled in Freeport, IL. Larry retired from RS&D of Illinois in 1986. They traveled for 10 years spending the winters in South Texas. In 1996 they moved back to Medford and bought the Lickity Split drive in. They sold it when Larry’s health worsened. He loved working with his high school crew at Lickity Split.
Larry loved to complete wood crafts for the family until he lost his eye sight. He still loved to stay busy by cooking, and he worked “The Table” with Deacon Joe and the rest of the crew for 9 years at Holy Rosary Social Center.
Larry is survived by his wife Mary of 67 years, and 6 children: Jean Ann (Bradley) Williams of Argyle, TX, Larry (Ester) Salzman of Medford, David (Rita) Salzman of Medford, Michael (Rosa) Salzman of Janesville, WI, Peter (Susie) Salzman of Knoxville, TN, Paul (Janice) Salzman of Beloit, WI, 19 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild, 1 Brother James (Sandy) Salzman of RIngle, WI, Rose (Norbert) Henrichs of Minocqua, Lucille (Richard) Bousley of Townsend, Pearl (Jim) Wallner, Louise Williams, Mary K. (Jim) Smith and Esther Salzman all of Wausau, WI and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, Siblings Josephine Breit, Arnold, Marvin, Leonard and Baby Sister Delores Salzman, Father and Mother in Law Raymond and Aprillia Bundick.
Larry was of the Catholic Faith where he had a passion for serving, he worked many funerals with Father Gerard at Holy Rosary and was also a Eucharistic Minister. He was a proud 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Retired Teamster Club Local 325, and was a volunteer Officer for the Freeport Auxiliary Police.
Larry was a loving husband, father and grandfather and friend. He was always ready to help family, friends, neighbors and strangers. He fought a long battle with cancer and will be missed by many.
Memorial donations in honor of Larry can be given to the family for designation at a later date or a charity of the donor’s choice in Larry’s name.

He enjoyed fishing, bass fishing tournaments, hunting, was a huge sports fan, watching sporting events, trips to the casino & his dogs.
