PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: Leon worked on the home farm until entering the U.S. Army on March 16, 1945. He served in Japan and was discharged in August 1946. He then worked in the wheat fields of North Dakota for a short time and then for Nash Factory in Milwaukee. Leon then worked for Damm Brothers Sawmill for about 3 years. He then worked on the home farm until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed hunting, being outdoors and going for walks.

The family then moved to Waterford where they owned and operated a restaurant for a few years. During this time she also waitressed at various restaurants in the Waterford area. In 1975 they moved to Augusta and in the early 1980’s they returned to Medford where she worked at Copp’s and K-Mart until her retirement. Edith also volunteered at the Medford Hospital, The Senior Citizen’s Center, the VFW and the United Methodist Church for the past 15 years. She enjoyed doing hobbie crafts, knitting, quilting and sewing.

In December of 2005 he and Toni moved to their current residence where he worked at the Dorchester Coop for a couple of years. He also transported the Amish around for a number of years. In his earlier years, Fred enjoyed camping. He enjoyed snowmobiling, traveling to Las Vegas to gamble, going to auctions, watching old westerns and dancing. Fred was also a gun collector.
