Delmar worked at Hurds in Medford for a short period of time and then at PCA in Colby for 36 years until his retirement in 1996. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed woodworking and cutting firewood.

Medals including Distinguished Service Cross, Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters. Flew 28 combat missions. Encountered the first German jet aircraft; participated in the famous Poltava mission where virtually all B-17 aircraft were lost in Russia. One mission saw his aircraft return to England with over 1,000 holes. On his first mission 5 aircraft of his 21 plane formation were lost: “50 men gone in one afternoon”. Ended active duty September, 1945. Moved to Medford in 1975 to be Publisher and General Manager of The Star News, retiring in 1992. A lifelong newspaperman, he worked with his father on the Crosby Minnesota Courier after the war and owned newspapers in Menomonee Falls and Sauk-Prairie Wisconsin through 1962, then owned the Gulf Beach Journal in St. Pete Beach, Fla, until 1964, before serving with the Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce. He became foreman of the production department of the Wisconsin State Journal and The Capital Times in 1967, before moving to Medford. Golf enthusiast and Tee-Hi member for many years

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE/MILITARY INFORMATION: WWII Veteran. Air Offensive Europe, Normandy and Rhineland campaigns: B-17 waist gunner. Medals including Distinguished Service Cross, Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters. Flew 28 combat missions. Encountered the first German jet aircraft; participated in the famous Poltava mission where virtually all B-17 aircraft were lost in Russia. One mission saw his aircraft return to England with over 1,000 holes. On his first mission 5 aircraft of his 21 plane formation were lost: “50 men gone in one afternoon”. Ended active duty September, 1945. Moved to Medford in 1975 to be Publisher and General Manager of The Star News, retiring in 1992. A lifelong newspaperman, he worked with his father on the Crosby Minnesota Courier after the war and owned newspapers in Menomonee Falls and Sauk-Prairie Wisconsin through 1962, then owned the Gulf Beach Journal in St. Pete Beach, Fla, until 1964, before serving with the Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce. He became foreman of the production department of the Wisconsin State Journal and The Capital Times in 1967, before moving to Medford. Golf enthusiast and Tee-Hi member for many years
