MARJORIE J. ARMBRUST
Marjorie “Marge” J. Armbrust, 90, Medford, died Monday, May 21 at her residence at Country Gardens where she had resided for the past 6 years. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 23 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating. Burial will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM on Wednesday, May 23 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford.
The former Marjorie Kitze was born in Owen, WI on December 7, 1921, the daughter of Herman and Mary (Kernoski) Kitze. She received her education at the Owen public schools graduating in 1939.
She attended Eau Claire Teacher’s College now the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, graduating in 1943 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. She taught high school in Osseo and Mosinee, and then came to Medford to teach at the Taylor County Normal School.
Her marriage to William P. Armbrust took place June 16, 1947 at the Abbotsford Catholic Church and he preceded her in death August 22, 1993.
She was a member of Holy Rosary congregation, Friends of the Library, the American Legion Auxiliary, Tee-Hi Golf Club, bridge club, mixed birthday club and Friends of Owen Schools.
She instilled in her daughters a sensitivity to social justice. She supported local artists, had a passion for reading, loved music and was a self taught creative hand quilter.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary (Roger) Tlusty, Eau Claire, and Gail Armbrust of Hudson. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Country Gardens and of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for their many kindnesses and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Medford Public Library, 400 N. Main Street, Medford, WI 54451.
