Bill was stationed in Nevada, Tennessee, England, Germany, Taiwan, and lastly, at the K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base in Marquette, MI. After his retirement from the Air Force, he owned the Village Wash Laundromat in Rib Lake for 6 years. He then worked for the ASCS Office as a farm land surveyor for a period of time. Bill then worked for Tombstone Pizza in Medford as an Environmental Control Supervisor until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed fishing, picking berries, making firewood, being outdoors, gardening, playing cards and he was an avid Packer, Brewer and Dodgers fan. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

MARGARET "MAGGIE" B. GEBERT
Margaret “Maggie” B. Gebert, 87, formerly of the Medford area, passed away on October 11, 2014, at the Wellington Place in Rib Mountain, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services where she had resided for the past 1 ½ years. Maggie was born June 22, 1927 to the late Paul and Dora (Harder) Walther in the township of Molitor, Taylor County, WI. She attended Medford area public schools and graduated from Medford High School.
On October 18, 1947, Maggie married John Gebert in Colby, WI. He preceded her in death February 23, 1991. Maggie was employed by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad in Winslow, AZ; Taylor County Selective Service System, Taylor County Extension Office and the Medford Electric Utility.
In her retirement, Maggie enjoyed traveling, quilting and gambling with her close friends. Maggie was proud of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Community United Church of Christ, Medford, The church Women’s Guild and the VFW Post 5729 Auxiliary.
Maggie is survived by four children: John (Nyla), Wausau; Michael (Ruth), Merrill; Rebecca (Tom) Wistein, Merrill and Mark (Lisa), Merrill along with 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren with two expected in the coming months. Maggie is survived by one sister, Clara “Dorothy” Hackbart, Appleton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters, Irma Bomgardner and infant sister, Dora Walther.
Memorial Services for Maggie will be on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 11:00 am at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford with Pastor David Clements officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 to time of service. Burial to follow immediately at the Medford Cemetery II.
Donations in Maggie’s name may be made to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Avenue Staten Island, NY 10305.

Along with her love of the farm, horses and wildlife, she loved the north woods, particularly the Lake Superior area & Madeline Island and the Whittlesey/Westboro area in the Chequamegan Forest where her parents live. She loved to cook and was always planning the next meal. Wreaths and rocks were her thing. She would scour the ditches & fields for plants she could use in her wreaths next fall and she had little piles of rocks all over the farm. She was an artist in everything she did.
