LARRY D. HERSHBERGER



LARRY D. HERSHBERGER
Age 76 of Rib Lake, former resident of Berlin, WI passed away on March 28, 2016 in Eau Claire after years long battle with heart disease. Larry was born on March 25,1940 in Albia, Iowa to Donald and Freda (Stocker) Hershberger. He moved from Iowa at the age of 11 to Wisconsin. Larry graduated from Wautoma High School in 1959. In 1991, Larry moved to Rib Lake and worked for Frank Bieniek for a period of time. He then worked for the Great Northern Cabinetry in Rib Lake before working for Weathershield Mfg. in Medford until his retirement. In his retirement he worked part time for County Market in Medford until ill health forced him to retire completely.
Services for Larry will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake with Father Otto Bucher officiating. Visitation will be held at 9:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake. Cremainal inurnment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.
Per Larry’s request his body has been donated to U.W. Madison for research.
On October 26, 1968, Larry married Kathleen Trochinski at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Redgranite, WI and she survives. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake where he was an usher and a counter. Larry was also a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.
Before becoming ill, Larry enjoyed wood working, hunting, walking in the woods, watching the wildlife in the yard and mostly enjoying his grandsons.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen Hershberger of Rib Lake, daughter Shelley (William) Burrier of Bloomer, son Andrew Hershberger of Appleton, grandsons Jakob and Landon Burrier of Bloomer, brothers Milton (Diane) Hershberger, Lonnie Hershberger both of Oshkosh, Thomas Hershberger of Berlin, sisters Maxine (Thomas) Mertens of Berlin, Jane (Dale) Schaumberg of Chippewa Falls and sister-in-law Linda Hershberger of Stevens Point. Larry is further survived by many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many many friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Sheila Hershberger, his parents Donald and Freda, in-laws Marcella and Carl Trochinski, brother Donald Hershberger and two sister-in-laws Carol Hershberger and Gail Trochinski.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Larry’s family to be designated at a later date.

PRINCIPLE EVENTS IN LIFE: After High school, Jim joined the U.S. Navy and served for 4 years before moving to Milwaukee and attending the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He then worked at Square-D in Milwaukee for 6years. Jim returned to Medford for a short period of time before re-enlisting in the U.S. Navy having served 23 years total upon his retirement. During his active duty, his primary specialties included serving as a submarine repairman and electronics technician. After his retirement from the military he returned to Medford. Jim loved to fish and enjoyed his daily routine in Medford.

KRISTINA I. KNOPP

Kristina Irene Knopp, 20, of Medford, went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday March 23, 2016.
Kristina was born June 12, 1995, in Novocheboksarsk, Russia.
When Kristina was 13, she was adopted by the Knopp Family, who brought her to the United States on May 6, 2009. She was a 2013 graduate of Abbotsford Christian Academy, where she will be remembered as a fierce competitor who played basketball and volleyball.
Kristina was currently an employee of Phillips Medisize, having previously worked at Northland Outlet and Arbys in Medford. Kristina was a free spirit and a true “people person.” She loved to be surrounded with friends, family and especially little children. Her personality lit up a room, and she never knew a stranger. Kristina could see the good in everyone, and was extremely generous through her gift giving. Through her heart for children and generosity, Kristina helped start two schools for underprivileged children overseas. Kristina attended Abbotsford Evangelical Free Church where she helped in Sunday School, Nursery and the One Way Club, and was a member of L.I.F.T Youth Group.
Kristina is survived by her Parents: Richard and Susan Knopp of Medford, Siblings; Samantha (Joel Stark) Knopp of Madison, Jennifer(Chad Tutton) Knopp of Pensacola, FL, Benjamin Knopp of Marquette University, Milwaukee. Grandparents: Ruth Armbrust of Medford, Richard and Barbara Knopp of Sheboygan, Sharon Knopp of Lake Geneva, and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Kristina is further survived by her family in Russia, Father; Alexander Vasilievitch Tarenko, Brothers; Vasiliy and Alexander Tarenko.
She is preceded in death by her Grandfather Robert Armbrust, and Russian Mother Irina Kurbatovna Tarenko.
Funeral services for Kristina will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday March 30, 2016 at the Abbotsford Evangelical Free Church, Abbotsford, WI. Pastors Mike and Bruce Jahnke Will officiate. Private graveside services will be held at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II, Medford, WI. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Tuesday March 29, 2016, at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford Chapel, and also from 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM, Wednesday March 30, 2016 at Abbotsford Evangelical Free Church.

PRINCIPLE EVENTS IN LIFE: Following high school, Helen briefly worked in Milwaukee, then returned to Rib Lake and worked at the Medford Hospital as a nurses aide. Helen ran the family dairy farm, while her husband Joseph was driving truck over the road. She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed traveling. She will always be remembered for her fantastic cooking, visitors would never leave her home hungry. Helen was a lady of style and grace and that was expressed in herself, her family and her home. She loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren; Helen put her heart and soul into everything she did.

He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, fishing, hanging out with his Marine Corps buddies & spending time with his children.

He then worked for Weathershield in Medford until his retirement in 2004. Pipes enjoyed eating, hunting, fishing, shooting guns with his nieces and nephews and going for ATV rides.

While in high school, Aaron wrestled all 4 years and truly excelled, at one point in his career he was ranked #7 in the state of Wisconsin. He enjoyed playing sports especially wrestling, softball and bowling, and was a member of several softball and bowling leagues in the area. He had a passion for the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish, and snowmobile. Aaron loved his Black Labrador, Nala.

PRINCIPLE EVENTS IN LIFE: After his education, he worked as a cheesemaker. He entered the US Navy and served from 1944 to 1946 in the South Pacific. Following the military, he returned to the area and worked at the Medford Creamery, owned & operated a tavern in the Town of Browning for 5 years, and in 1961 purchased a farm in the Town of Rib Lake. While farming he also hauled cattle until selling the farm in 1976 when he went to work for Weather Shield until retirement in 1985. He served on the Lakewood Credit Union board for over 40 years. He enjoyed visiting with people, bowling, dancing, playing sheepshead, his grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
