She also worked as a church secretary at Our Lady of Sorrow in Ladysmith for a period of time. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, shuffleboard, swimming, visiting casinos, and family get togethers (especially at the Mondeaux Flowage).

ARLENE B. HOFFMAN

Arlene B. Hoffman, 81, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Aspirus Care and Rehab in Medford. She was born on August 8, 1936 to Marvin and Lydia (Hoffmann) Krueger. She married Wayne Hoffman on October 22, 1960, he survives. She was educated at rural schools in the Rib Falls area. She worked most of her life as a homemaker.

In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, beadwork, quilting, playing cards, doing word searches, and going out for ice cream.

In addition to her husband, Arlene is survived by her children, Dawn (Ken) Matyka, Jill (Craig) Paul, and Scott Hoffman; grandchildren, Alex (Camille) Matyka, Reid Matyka, Eliza Matyka, Ryan Paul, Brett Paul, and Nevaeh Hoffman, and one great grandchild on the way. She is further survived by her brothers, Gary and Ronnie Krueger; sisters, Marilyn (Sylvester) Lipinksi, Donna (David) Weisenburger, Lorraine Hoeft, and Leila (Roger) Graveen.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother Russell and daughter Judy, both in infancy.

Funeral services for Arlene will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stetsonville, with Rev. Richard Russow officiating; burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 31 at Zion Lutheran Church from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00AM.

JERRY W. ANDERSON

Jerry W. Anderson, 67, of Medford, passed away on October 25, 2017 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. Jerry was born on June 8, 1950 to Floyd and Crystal (Redwine) Anderson in Medford. He was educated in Medford. After his education he served in the Marines from 1968 until 1972. He married Cathy Krebsbach on December 30, 1972, she survives. Jerry worked for Wisconsin Equipment for 5 years. He then went on to work at the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department, first as a jailer/dispatcher, then as a deputy, and finally back as a jailer until his retirement. During his time at the Sheriff’s Department he also drove bus and mowed lawn at Tee-HI.

In his spare time Jerry enjoyed golfing, scoring a hole in one on hole 2 at Tee-Hi, cribbage, going to the casino, hunting, and fishing.

 In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter Wendy (Pete) Doorn of South Milwaukee, son Chris (Stephanie Quednow) Anderson of Medford and grandchildren Katie and Xak Doorn. He is further survived by his sister Mildred (Bill) Heier of Lublin, brother-in-law Richard Frahmann of Medford, cousin Clarice Heier of Medford, brothers and sisters in law, and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Marion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 30 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford with Father Phil Juza officiating. Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 29 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM, when a rosary service will take place. Visitation will continue of Monday, October 30 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

EVELYN J. WALL

Evelyn J. Wall, 89, of Medford, formerly of Lublin, passed away Wednesday October 25, 2017 at Aspirus Medford Hospital.

She was born May 17, 1928 in Verndale, Minnesota to Carl and Susannah (Lambert) Jasmer. She is a graduate of Withee High School. She married Frank Wall at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee on September 27, 1947. He preceded her in death in November of 1989.

Evelyn is survived by her Children: Gloria (Dan) Gibbon of Medford, Bonnie (Sonny) Dembraski of Bruce Crossing, MI, Larry (Traci) Wall of Stephenson, MI and Michael Wall of Lublin. Grandchildren: Krisan Bastil, Kurt Gibbon, Ginger Hanson, Bruce Dembraski, Cari Loveland, Fred Dembraski, Ben Dembraski, Joe Wall, Rob Wall, Christopher Wall, numerous great Grandchildren, Siblings: Milo Jasmer of Medford, Caroline Nicpon of Barron, and many nieces and nephews.

She is further preceded in death by her Parents, 3 Sisters: Doris Cardinal, Alvera Anderson, Marie Sherwood, 3 Brothers: Vernon, Lorn and Dale Jasmer.

As a child she moved with her parents to the Town of Maplehurst, Taylor County, in 1938. After high school she was employed at the Riverside Hotel in Medford. Following her marriage to Frank, they moved to the Town of Roosevelt until 1971. In 1970, she and her husband started the Wall Sales & Service at their home where they dealt in fire and safety equipment. Until recently, she served as secretary for the business, now run by her son Michael. She enjoyed birdwatching and gardening, especially caring for flowers and the beautiful  pond and waterfall her husband had made for her. In September of 2016 she moved from the family farm near Lublin to Medford. Evelyn dearly loved her family, and enjoyed spending time with them at the year "Camp-ins" and "Camp-outs" she organized.

Evelyn was a member of the Thorp Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses since 1959, and the Dorchester Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses since 2016.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM,  Saturday November 11, 2017 at the Thorp Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Burial of her cremated remains will take place at the Thorp East Side Cemetery.

GEORGIANA E. PEABODY

Georgiana E. Peabody, 102, of Westboro, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at Aspirus Care and Rehab in Medford. Georgiana was born on September 15, 1915, in Chicago, IL to George and Esther (Johnson) Ritter. She graduated from Lucy Flower High School, an all girl school dedicated to students with artistic and musical talents. While in Chicago she studied art at the Art Institute and piano at the Busch Conservatory. She also received a two year degree from Wright Junior College.

Shortly after college she came to Westboro to help care for her aging grandmother. It was while she lived here she met her future husband, Kenneth Peabody. They were married in Rib Lake on August 17, 1940. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Wausau. After a stint at Employers Mutual Insurance she returned to college and earned an elementary education degree from Stevens Point State College. She taught 5^th grade at St. James Catholic School until her retirement.

After they retired the Peabodys returned to Westboro and enjoyed growing vegetables. Throughout her life Georgiana enjoyed painting and playing piano. She also liked reading (nonfiction) and doing crossword puzzles.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in July of 1986, her brother, John Ritter Sr. and his wife, Martha, her sister Jane Estillore and her husband Tony, and a brother Charles as a young child, and her brother’s children Lucy Sinks and John Ritter Jr., both in 2016.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Kelly of East Palatka, FL, one granddaughter, Katrina Vaugh of Fitzgerald, GA, one great-granddaughter, Karsyn Vaughn and one great-grandson, David Vaughn, both of Fitzgerald, GA.

In keeping with her wishes no funeral services will be held. Following cremation, her ashes will be placed wither her husband at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Westboro.

ADRIENNE A. HENNLICH

Adrienne A. Hennlich, age 84, former Medford resident passed away peacefully with family on October 14th, 2017 at Dove Healthcare West Reflections Unit in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

A visitation will be held at the Hemer Funeral Home in Medford on Wednesday, October 18th, from 5:00-7:00 PM. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 PM by nephew, Deacon Dallas Carlson. Visitation will continue on October 19th from 9:30 AM till the time of service at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.  A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on October 19^th, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father David Neuschwander officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery in Dorchester, Wisconsin.

Adrienne was born on September 15th, 1933 to Richard and Demerise Grzadzieleski in Drayton, North Dakota. She attended Drayton schools. After high school graduation Adrienne moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated with a degree in medical technology. Adrienne then moved to Medford and was employed by the Medford Clinic as a laboratory technician. During this time, she met the love of her life William Bill Hennlich. Bill and Adrienne were married on June 22nd, 1963 in Drayton ND.

Adrienne loved spending time with and caring for her family. Her interests included history, interior decorating and art. After her retirement from the Medford Clinic she worked as curator at the Taylor County Historical Society, where she was also a member. Adrienne also volunteered in a reading program through the Medford Area School District and was known as one of the grandmas. She was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and many Sundays was a greeter. Adrienne enjoyed her Saturday coffee group with friends. She adored and was most proud of her granddaughter Hannah Buchholz. "Grammy" will be so missed.

Adrienne is survived by her daughter Margaret (Allen) Buchholz, Fall Creek, Wisconsin. Granddaughter Hannah Buchholz, La Crosse Wisconsin. Her sister Claris (Carl) Peterson, Arizona. A sister in law Alice Grzadzieleski North Dakota. Sister and brother in law Janice and Connie Diesing, Brookfield, Wisconsin, Sister in law Joan (late Jerry) Baker, Dorchester Wisconsin, Sister in law Dorothy (late Bob) Forseth, and Brother in law James (Patricia) Hennlich of Colby.  In addition to many nieces and nephews.

Adrienne was preceded in death by William Hennlich, her parents, a sister Janice (Dallas) Carlson, and brother Harris Grzadzieleski.

JAMES G. KALMON

James G. Kalmon, 56, of Medford, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

James was born on September 22, 1961 in Medford, WI to the late Claire and Carol (Van Der Molen) Kalmon. He attended Brookside Elementary School, Jefferson Junior High and Medford Senior High where he graduated in 1980. He loved photography, lifelong Packer Fan, an avid musician, loved to play the guitar and just started playing the drums.

James was a long time employee of Hurd Mill Work in Medford working from 1980 to 2004. He also worked for Jeld Wen Windows and Streko Doors.

James is survived by Brothers: Robert (Donna) Kalmon of Medford, Kenneth (Dorothy) Kalmon of Hatley, Donald (Donna) Kalmon of Medford; Sister: Cindy (Pat) Harmeyer of Saukville; Nieces: Crystal, Mindy and Mandi.

In addition to his parents James is preceded in death by his Niece Jenny Kalmon and Great Niece and Nephew Isabelle and Chase.

MARY ANN DUBOIS

Mary Ann DuBois, 77, of Medford, passed away October 8, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Mary Ann was born May 22, 1940 in Hustisford, WI to August and Elsie (Schwantes) Goecks. She is a 1958 Graduate of Hustisford High School. Mary Ann married Arthur T. DuBois at Horicon on August 18, 1967. Arthur preceded Mary Ann in death on December 25, 1984.

She is survived by her Children: Tammi Barnes of Medford, Terry (Peter) Wimmer of Washington, Tracy (Sue) DuBois of Dorchester, Todd DuBois and Ty DuBois both of Medford, Daughter in Law: Julie DuBois of Medford, 9 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren and several cousins.

She is further preceded in death by her Parents, and Son Toby DuBois.

In 1976 Mary Ann and her family moved to the Medford Area where she worked as a housewife and mother. Prior to moving to Medford they farmed in the Neosha, WI area for a period of time. In 1985 she began employment at Black River Industries in Medford. During her employment at Black River Industries she was in charge of the Taylor County Special Olympics.

Mary Ann loved her Grandchildren, and never missed a school or sporting event. She looked forward to every Halloween at the Sports Page for the Special Olympics Bowling Tournament. She enjoyed cooking, and completing word searches and crossword puzzles.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday October 14, 2017 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford Chapel. Visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 4:00 PM.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the service, and burial of cremated remains will take place at the Hustisford Cemetery.

PRINCIPLE EVENTS IN LIFE: Prior to moving to Medford, she resided in St. Cloud, MN and Bayfield, WI.  Moved to Medford in 1974 and worked at Black River Industries and the Medford Creamery as a bookkeeper until her retirement.  In her retirement, she bought and sold antiques.  She enjoyed going on trips, visiting with family, gardening and playing pool.

BERNADETTE F. MARSCHKE

Bernadette F. Marschke of Rib Lake, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Care Partners Assisted Living under the care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care with her three children by her side.
Bernadette (Bernie) was born on May 26, 1938 to the late Bernard and Jeanette (Poirier) Strobach in Rib Lake. She was a graduate of Rib Lake High School. She married the love of her life Robert Sunderlin on Oct. 5, 1957 in Rib Lake who preceded her in death in May 1958. She married William Kane on May 21, 1960 and they later divorced. She married William “Bill” Marschke on Feb. 22, 1970 and he preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 2014.
Bernie worked most of her life as a mother and homemaker. As an Air Force wife she traveled to England, Germany, and the U.P. of Michigan. After Bill’s Air Force retirement in 1978 they returned to Rib Lake where they owned and operated The Village Wash Laundromat for many years. She is a past member of the Spirit Lakes Improvement Association and was also a Hospice volunteer. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and enjoyed making applesauce and strawberry jelly for them. Bernie read her Bible daily with her morning coffee, enjoyed occasional trips to the casino, loved to vegetable and flower garden, and was also an amazing accordion player. Crocheting kept her fingers nimble and many people are enjoying all the afghans she has donated and given away.
Bernie is survived by her children: William (Edie) Sunderlin of North Fond du Lac, Candy (Mark) Rinehart of Medford and Karen (Fritz) Balz of Athens; step-children: Robert and Sean Marschke of South Dakota and Penny (Mike) Oswood of California; grandchildren: Heather Norton, Dustin, Daniel (Alexa), Matthew, Ariel and Nathaniel Rinehart, Gracie Balz, Jeremy and Jordan Marschke, Carl and Christopher Oswood and four great grandchildren; brothers: Lee Strobach of Ogema, Dale (Bernadette) Strobach of Clear Lake, Ray Strobach of Rib Lake, Dean (Gayle) Strobach of Ogema; sister Judy (Bill) Gelhaus of Arizona and sister-in-law Sandy Strobach of Illinois.
In addition to her parents and late husbands Bernie was preceded in death by her brother Theodore “Ted” Strobach.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford with Pastor David Clements officiating. HARVEY R. JUDNIC

Harvey R. Judnic, 82, Township of Greenwood, passed away Friday, October 6, 2017 at Rib Lake Health Care Center surrounded by his loving family.

Harvey was born on May 31, 1935 in the Township of Greenwood to the late Joseph Sr. and Mary (Mauser) Judnic. He married the love of his life Arlene Damrau on September 29, 1962 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Rib Lake, WI. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. He also enjoyed country western dancing and movies particularly John Wayne, country music, bird watching and horses.

Harvey bought the family farm in 1958 and farmed until he sold the Dairy section in 1978. He also worked in the woods, Medford Co-Op Feed Department for 9 years, Weathershield, Harvey Company and Foremost Foods. He landed his dream job as an Operator of the Road Grader for the Township of Greenwood. He spent 30 years there until his retirement in 2003.

He was a member of the Central Wisconsin Country Dancers and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.  

Harvey is survived by his wife Arlene Marie Judnic of Township of Greenwood; Children: Daniel Judnic of West Sacramento, CA and Lori Judnic-Kopchinski of Wauwatosa; Granddaughter: Abigail Kopchinski of Wauwatosa; Foreign Exchange Student: Torstein (Asa) Tysklind and his children Nora and Otto of Stockholm, Sweden; Brother: Lester (Marilyn) Judnic of Merrill; Sisters: Angeline Strebig of Medford and Rosal Schilling of Arlington Heights, IL; Sister-In-Law: Marcella Judnic of Medford and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Harvey is preceded in death by Brothers: Joseph (Esther) Judnic, Carl (Ruth) Judnic, Clarence Judnic; Sisters: 4 month old Mary Judnic, Mary (Tony) Nezval, Betty (Joseph) Imbach; Brother-In-Laws: Clarence Strebig and Rudolph Schilling; Parents-In-Law; Arthur and Theresa Damrau.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Rib Lake with Pastors James Babbler and Kenneth Bittorf officiating. Visitation will be held St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 9:00 AM until the time of service 12:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Harvey’s family to be designated at a later date.

THEODORE W. "TED" SCHMIDT

Theodore W. “Ted” Schmidt, 84, of Westboro, passed into glory on October 3, 2017, at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. He was born on December 26, 1932 to Carl and Lena Schmidt in Watertown. He graduated Lutheran High school in Milwaukee in 1950. Ted served in the Army in Korea from 1953-1955 and then went on to serve in the Army Reserve’s throughout the 60’s. He worked as a journeyman carpenter for several years before working for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1988 as a station manager. Ted married Inez DePas on September 27, 1989.

Ted participated in the Honor Flight in May of 2016. He was also a member of the Westboro VFW.

Ted and Inez loved to travel and were always “gone again”. His dream was to visit Alaska, which he was able to do shortly before his passing. They made beautiful music together. He loved nature and the outdoors, volunteering, and spending time with his family and friends. His incredible cooking will be missed.

In addition to his wife, Inez, he is survived by the children from his first marriage to Carole Anne Koch, Bill (Ann) Schmidt of West Bend, Bob Schmidt of Germantown, and Dan (Jenny) Schmidt of West Bend, children from his second marriage to Janice Hanig, Shelby (Ken) Brotz of Richfield, Kelly Schmidt of West Bend, and Kent Schmidt of Hartland, and children from his current marriage to Inez, Kathy McNabb of Bloomsbury, NJ, and Mark Grandin of Columbus, TX, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ted is further survived by his brother Bill (Barb) Schmidt and many other family and friends.

Ted is preceded in death by his previous wives Carole and Janice, and two sisters Catherine Kriehn and Dorothy Schiessl.

Funeral services for Ted will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Whittlesey, W5334 Dassow Ave. Medford, WI at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Randal Jeppesen officiating. Visitation will take place on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Whittlesey from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial donation in Ted’s name may be given to the Westboro VFW.

Ted is now playing guitar, banjo, and singing in the heavenly band.
