PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: In 1950, Melvin and Sylvia bought their own farm by Dorchester, where they dairy farmed, raised mink for a few years and enjoyed a large garden. Over the years, Melvin drove semi-trucks, gravel trucks, cattle trucks, tractors (Big & Small) and other large equipment until ill health forced his retirement in 2005. After retirement he helped his sons with their field work. He enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, ice fishing, reading the paper, watching television and getting together with family. Melvin enjoyed going for Sunday rides and to take trips with Sylvia. His favorite was driving through Yellowstone and the beautiful scenery. He also liked visiting relatives in other states.

She was very active with her family, church and community. She was an EMT and member of the First Responders, volunteer at the Rib Lake schools, Cub Scout leader, and sang in the Ecumenical Choir. She was awarded the Pax Cristi award & Lay Person of the Year for the Superior Diocese.

She worked at the Harvey Company Millwork in Medford until her retirement. She enjoyed playing piano, sewing, crocheting, cooking, baking, gardening, canning, fishing, & crossword puzzles.
