EDUCATION: Graduated from Medford Area Senior High School.

MARRIAGE: Married Franklin Harold Hempel on October 25, 1944 in Medford.

HOBBIES / INTERESTS: Alta served as the book keeper for Hempel-Skelly Service and also Doberstein Lumberyard. Alta and her husband Frank owned and operated Wildwood Supper club in Chelsea from 1977 – 1986. She was an avid knitter, and enjoyed crocheting. She was a key member in the research for the Genealogy of all cemeteries in Taylor County, and also surrounding counties. She also enjoyed painting Rosemaling and plates. Alta was well known for making “Ukrainian Eggs”. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

MEMBER OF: Lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was Baptized and Confirmed. She served on several ladies committees at the church, and also was a Sunday school teacher.

SURVIVING CHILDREN: Bruce (Pat) Hempel of Medford, Luanne (Bruce) Olson of Stetsonville.

GRANDCHILDREN: Brian Hempel, Shelby Hempel, Kari (Jason) Wanke and Michael (Michelle) Olson

BROTHERS/SISTERS DECEASED: 7 Brothers and Sisters

DECEASED FATHER: Albert Leffel DECEASED MOTHER: Delia (Born) Leffel
