OFFICIATING: Father Phil Juza and Deacon Joseph Stefancin

INTERMENT: Cremainal Inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery in the Township of Holway

VISITATION: 1:00 P.M. until 5:30 P.M. where there will be a 5:30 P.M. Rosary Service and then funeral mass to follow

DATE & PLACE OF BIRTH: April 11, 1920 in Stanbaugh, Michigan

EDUCATION: Alvin attended Milwaukee Area Schools starting at the age of 4, and graduated from Custer High School in Milwaukee at the age of 16.

MARRIAGE: On April 26, 1943 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford to Dolores R. Roberts

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: After high school, Alvin moved to Holway with his family at the age of 17. After his marriage they lived in Holway until moving to Medford in 1980. Alvin was a dairy farmer as well as working at various other jobs in the area. He worked at the Post Company in Owen, The Creamery in Medford, The Medford Brewery, drove bus, sold insurance, processed meat at Brunners Store, did painting jobs with his brother Arnold and was Taylor County Treasurer for 18 years. He enjoyed playing softball, where he played for the 55 and older team and was State Champs when he was 72 years old and hitting a home run, coaching both men and women’s various sports teams, bowling, card playing, golfing (where he had 2 hole in 1’s), woodworking, enjoyed dancing the waltz and polka music, sang with the Holy Rosary Monks, and he liked going to the casinos and playing bingo. Alvin loved going to his children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s events and spending time with his family.

MEMBER OF: Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Alvin was Grand Knight for several years. The Farmer’s Union and a Director on the Taylor County Electric Cooperative.

SURVIVING CHILDREN: 12 Children: James “Jim” (Janet) Sova of Medford, Carol (John) Willman of Stetsonville, David (Penny) Sova of Medford, Shirley (Marshal) Kleist of Medford, William “Bill” (Mary) Sova of Somerset, Daniel (Nancy) Sova of Hewitt, Ronald (Nancy Heib) Sova of Anoka, MN, Kevin (Laura) Sova of Curtiss, Laura (Dan) Leary of Medford, Mary (Brian Strobach) Henrichs of Westboro, Joe (Val) Sova of Medford and Kent (Heidi Hennes) Sova of Neenah
