CLIFFORD "EDDIE" E. PREMEAU

Clifford “Eddie” E. Premeau, 88, of Ogema, WI, formerly of Ripon, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 under the care of Flambeau Home Health and Hospice surrounded by his family.


He was born on July 11, 1929 to Edmund and Viola Premeau in Westboro. Clifford married Ailene Lorraine Storm, September 30, 1950 in Rib Lake, WI. She preceded him death in 2015. He was self-employed at Cliff’s Tire and Battery until his retirement. In 1996, Ailene and Clifford moved from Ripon to Ogema, where they had lived since 1972. He was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting and watching all different kinds of wildlife in the backyard of his home. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Clifford is survived by his Children: Margaret Stone of Naperville, IL, Melinda (Dan) Krieg of DePere, WI, Jacqueline (Mark) Peterson of Ripon, WI. Grandchildren: Julie (John) McCullough of New Market, AL, Erin (Adam) Vallez of Capron, IL, Noah (Barbie) Surfass of Stockton, UT, Stacy (Rick) Fischer of Neenah, WI, Sara (Mike) Williams of Neenah, WI, Daniel (Courtney) Krieg of Neenah, WI, Ryan (Emily) Peterson of Beaver Dam, WI, Steffen (Briana) Peterson of Cedarville, CA, Great Grandchildren: Elizabeth & Bailey Curtis, Emelia & Caleb Vallez, JP, Lauren & Kathryn McCullough, Max Fischer, Sapphire Krieg, Kaylee Williams, Danika Williams. Nieces and nephews: Terri (Ed) Anderson, Cindy (Mark) Meyering, Dave (Cheryl) Hanson Deborah Storm, Margie (Scott) Pearson, Barb (Matt) Brager, Liz (Tony) Nehmer, Brother in Law: Wayne Tlusty.

In addition to his wife, Ailene, he is preceded in death by his Parents, Daughter: Kathleen Surfass, Great Grandson: Ricky Fischer, Sisters: Geraldine Hanson and Susan Tlusty Brothers in Law: Art Hanson and Marvin and John Storm, Sister in Law: Donna Storm.


Funeral Services for Clifford will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 2, 2018 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Prentice, WI, with Father Gerald Hagen officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Westboro, WI. Visitation will take place on February 2, 2018, at St. John The Baptist Church from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00AM.

ROXANNE M. MANGUM


Roxanne Marie Mangum, 64, of Medford, passed away Saturday January 27, 2018 at Aspirus Care and Rehab.
She was born August 27, 1953 in Merrill, WI to James and Betty (Kreuger) Taylor. She is a graduate of Merrill High School.
Roxanne is survived by her Husband, Charles Mangum of Medford; Daughter, Holly Berry of Medford; Mother, Betty Rutkowski of Merrill; Siblings, Cindy (John) Harlow of Oregon, Kandie Saxe of East Troy, Theresa (Bill) Stolpa of Wausau, James (Linda) Taylor of East Troy, Randy Rutkowski of Merrill; Grandchildren - Matthew, Timothy, Roxanne, Jacob, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her Father, Son, Charles T. Mangum, and Sister, Debbie Pearce.
Roxanne worked as a nurse’s assistant and then went to work for Jeld-Wen Windows and Doors in Hawkins, WI. She was a member of Living Waters Assembly of God in Bruce, WI.
Roxanne will always be remembered for being so strong and having the will to never give up.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and no services will be held.

ROGER W. HERRELL

Roger W. Herrell, 62, of Dorchester, WI, a Town of Little Black, Taylor Co. resident, died Friday, January 26 at his residence under the loving care of his family and Hope Hospice.
Memorial services for Roger will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 3 at First Baptist Church, Medford with Rev. Patrick Daniels officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 4-7 PM on Friday, February 2, also from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Saturday February 3. Larry Herrell will be serving as an urn bearer. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Rock Cemetery, Grand Marsh, WI, Adams County at a later date.
Roger was born on June 20, 1955 at Portage, WI, the son of Vern E. & Frances (Mutchler) Herrell. He attended Grand Marsh Elementary and Brooks Elementary Schools, both in Adams County. He was a 1973 graduate of Adams-Friendship High School, attended UW-Eau Claire and was a 1983 graduate of the Wisconsin State Patrol Academy in Fort McCoy, WI where he received a sharpshooting award. His first marriage was in 1975 to Janet Gulrud and they were later divorced; His second marriage was in 1985 at First Baptist Church, Medford to Betty J. Smith and she survives.

After his education, he moved to the Medford area in 1983 and worked as a Wisconsin State Trooper for 15 years and received a Meritorious for Life Saving award from the State of Wisconsin while a trooper. Then he owned and operated R-B Construction, worked as a foreman for Kulps of Stratford & worked as a handyman for the Taylor Co. Humane Society until ill health forced his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, logging, mechanic work, fast cars and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Christian Bible Fellowship of Stetsonville, WI.

Roger is survived by his wife, Betty J. Herrell of Dorchester; mother, Frances Herrell of Oxford, WI; children, Amber (Robert) Chaffee of Medford, Ben (Kristy) Herrell of Bolingbrook, IL & Emily (Fiancee-Marc Jackson) Herrell of Eagan, MN. Also, 7 grandchildren, Zackery, Aubry, Robert Jr. & Logan Chaffee, Benjamin Jr., Jacob & Madison Herrell; his siblings, Lois (Bruce) Christensen of Adams, WI, Larry (Kris) Herrell of Green Lake, WI, Karen (Dennis) Gilmore of Indio, CA, Lori (Mike) Wheeler of Greenville, WI, Tim (Lanni) Herrell of Yakima, WA, Tony (Tina) Herrell of Treasure Island, FL. His brothers/sister-in-law: Theodore Smith of Park Falls, WI, Anna (Craig) Gutenberger of Unity, WI & Burl (Sandy) Smith of Marshfield, WI. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Herrell in 1978 & his father, Vern E. Herrell in 1996.

NANCY K. NOLAND

Nancy K. Noland, 70, of Medford, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Marshfield Medical Center. She was born on July 31, 1947 to Lawrence and Katherine Dassow. She was a graduate of Medford High. She married Eugene Noland on September 24, 1966. She worked at Tombstone for 33 years until her retirement.

In her spare time Nancy enjoyed camping, traveling, and the outdoors, gardening, vacations with her sisters, bowling, and knitting.

Nancy is survived by her husband Eugene; mother, Katherine Dassow;  children Patrick (Tuan Dean) Noland, Jess (Debra) Noland, and Gary (Karen) Noland; grandchildren, Lonnie, Michael, Tony, Mary, and Patrick Noland, Doug, Karen, Nicole, Heidi, and Taylor, and 6 step-grandchildren, ; great-grandchild, Arianna; siblings, Fay ( Damon) Harder, Cindy (Allen) Crass, Patty Gengler, Tommy (Kathy) Dassow, Sally (Monty) Strassberger, Butch (Gail) Dassow. Nancy is further survived by many other family and friends.

Nancy is preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Dassow; brother Dale Dassow and sister Susy Krug.
Funeral Services for Nancy will be held on at 11:00 AM Monday, January 29, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Whittlesey; with Pastor Randal Jeppesen officiating. Visitation will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

GLORIA M. OLMSTEAD




Gloria M. Olmstead, 92, of Medford, passed away Thursday January 25, 2018 at Aspirus Care and Rehab in Medford.

She was born March 14, 1925 in Ogema, WI to Joseph and Vlasta (Hrdlicka) Simek. She is a graduate of Westboro High School. She joined the Nursing Corps and then went on to St. Josephs Nursing School in Marshfield where she received a Bachelors Degree in Nursing in 1947.

Upon completion of nursing school, she moved to Georgia and worked as a nurse for a brief period of time. She then went on to work for Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. She then met Ernest Olmstead in Delta Junction, Alaska. They married in 1959 and owned and operated a hunting lodge. In 1968 she moved to Medford and worked for the Medford Memorial Hospital. In 1972, she then moved to Wausau and worked for the Wausau Hospital and was a Marathon County Nurse and was part of the Visiting Nurses Association. Upon retirement, she moved back to Medford to take care of her Mother.

Gloria loved polka music, singing, playing bingo and bowling in leagues. She was a member of the Medford VFW Auxiliary.

Gloria is survived by her Children: Julianne Lennon of Rothschild, Ernie (Karen Riley) Olmstead of Belize, Grandchildren: Quintin Olmstead of Irvine, CA, Courtney Lennon and Sean Lennon  both of Kronenwetter, Siblings: Vlasta Cummings of Delta Junction, AK, William (Mary Anne) Noziska of Casper, WY, Danny (Judy) Noziska of Juneau, AK, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her Husband, Parents, Daughter Valerie Rose Olmstead, and Brothers Joseph “Pep” and Ron Simek.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday February 3, 2018 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford Chapel. Pastor Quinlan Koch will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday February 2, 2018 from 4-7 PM at Hemer Funeral Home, and an hour prior to the service on Saturday. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service, burial will be held at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Westboro in the spring.

RUTH E. ARMBRUST

Ruth E. Armbrust, 92, of Medford passed into eternal life on Sunday, January 14 at Aspirus Country Gardens in Medford where she had resided for the past 1½ years; most recently under the care of Hope Hospice. Memorial services for Ruth will be at 11 am on Friday, January 19, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, with Father Phil Juza officiating. Burial of her cremated remains will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford. Her grandson, Ben Knopp will serve as urn bearer. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of services at 11 am at the church.
Ruth was born on November 13, 1925 in Stetsonville to the late John and Mary (Rudolph) Docter. She went to Stetsonville elementary schools and was a 1942 graduate of Medford High School. Her marriage to Robert F. Armbrust took place on May 30, 1945 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville. He preceded her in death August 2, 2014.
Prior to her marriage, Ruth worked at Farmers State Bank in Stetsonville. After her marriage and the return of her husband from WWII, she devoted herself to being a wife and mother. While her children were young, she helped with the family business, Armbrust Meats, by doing the bookkeeping. In later years, she spent many hours working beside Bob at “the shop”. She enjoyed camping, boating on Lake Superior, fishing, reading, doing crossword puzzles, sewing, curling, golfing, bowling, swimming, watching any Wisconsin sports team, traveling, spending winter months in Arizona, playing cards, and being a ‘Reading Grandma’. Ruth always treated others with kindness and had a delightful sense of humor. Her family was her pride and joy. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Medford and the Ladies of Holy Rosary.
She is survived by her children – Mike (Sally) Armbrust of Madison, Tom (Mary) Armbrust, Jeff (Michele) Armbrust & Susan (Rick) Knopp, all of Medford, JoAnne (Don) Faust of Black Earth and Becky (Doug) Leclair of La Crosse; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren—21st on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Mary Agnes Armbrust in infancy, a grand- daughter, Kristina Knopp, and her siblings, Mary Ann Schiller, Art Docter, Mildred McNamar, and Mabel Newton.

ALVIN "DICK" RUDOLPH, JR.


Alvin “Dick” G. Rudolph, Jr., 83, of Medford, passed away Wednesday January 10, 2018 at Aspirus Medford Hospital.

Dick was born November 20, 1934 in Medford to Alvin Sr. and Christina (Belobraydich) Rudolph. He attended Washington Elementary School and was a 1952 graduate of Medford High School.

He is survived by Maralene (Alvin “Speed”) Zirngibl and Marcy Reinke both of Phillips, nieces, nephews and cousins.

After his education, he worked at Harvey Company in Medford for many years.  He also drove fuel truck & worked as a pipe bender for Jim Zuleger Service in Medford until ill health.  He was recently honored as a 50-year Hunters Safety instructor.  He enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing and fly tying.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday January 27, 2018 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford Chapel. Pastor David Clements will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 until the time of service at 10:00 AM. Burial of cremated remains will take place in the spring in Medford Evergreen Cemetery II.

MELVIN D. BRINK


Melvin D. Brink, 93, of Medford, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Country Gardens in Medford. He was born on August 22, 1924 to Daniel and Goldie (Jensen) Brink. He married Leona Metz on November 13, 1948, she survives. Melvin was a graduate of Medford High School. He worked as a dairy farmer and logger in the Town of Browning his whole life.
In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, Polka music, dancing, and he was a lifelong member of Community United Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, Melvin is survived by his children, Barbara (George) Tuma, Jerry (Dawn) Brink, both of Medford, and Sandra Peterson of Oregon, WI; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters, Ilaine Blasel and Virginia Harder, both of Medford, brother Donald (Clarice) Brink of Medford, and sister in law Virginia Brink of Lake Mills, WI.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Connie Brink, sister Fern Munson, and brother Charles Brink.
A memorial service for Melvin will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Community United Church of Christ at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Mary Jo Laabs officiating; burial will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Community United Church of Christ from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM.

WINSTON A. "JAKE" JOCHIMSEN

Winston A. “Jake” Jochimsen, 87, of the Town of Holway, passed away at his home on January 2, 2018.

Jake was born March 7, 1930 in the Town of Little Black to Awald and Clara (White) Jochimsen. He is a graduate of Medford Senior High School. He married Janet M. Fleischmann on May 10, 1974 in Whittlesey. Janet passed July 28, 1994.

He is survived by his daughter:  Jayne Kleinschmidt of Wausau, Grandson: Kolby Kleinschmidt of Wausau, Brother Willard “Hank” (Patricia) Jochimsen of Eau Claire, Sister in Law Florina Jochimsen of Medford, many Nieces and Nephews, In Laws: Mary Lou Sauer of Mauston, Bernice Tlusty of Medford, Ethel (Gene) Kalmon of Grand Junction, CO, Marilyn Fleischmann of Colorado Springs, CO, Elizabeth (Jerald) Koch of Westboro, and Philip Becher of Winona, MN.

Jake is further preceded in death by his Parents, Brothers: Wyllis “Buster” and Wayne “Shorty” Jochimsen.

 Jake worked for Hurd Window Company for a short period of time. He then went on to serve in the United States Air Force. He served in the Supply Division, and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant.  Upon his discharge from the Air Force, he came back to Medford and again worked for Hurd Windows. He then worked with his family on their dairy farm in the Town of Little Black. After his marriage to Janet he worked for Weather Shield Window Company until his retirement in 1994. In retirement Jake worked for the Federal Forestry Department, where he mowed lawns and helped maintain campgrounds.

He was very active and supported many groups and sports teams in town. He could often be found at local sporting events, church socials and fundraiser events. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, bowling, baseball and softball. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewers fan. He was an honoree of the October 2015 Veterans Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville, and the American Legion Post 147 and VFW Post 5729, and the Chequamegon Beagle Club.

He loved his daughter Jayne and Grandson Kolby dearly, and treasured his time spent with them.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00, Saturday January 6, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville.  Father Michael Hayden will officiate. Military rites will be rendered at church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Little Black. Pallbearers will be his nephews: Lynn, Kurt, Roy, Bryan, Jay, Mike, and Gregg Jochimsen. Visitation will be held Friday January 5, 2017 from 4 – 7:00 PM at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Saturday at the church beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of mass.

Memorial donations in honor of Jake can be given to his family for designation at later date.
