PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: After his education, he drove cattle truck for Mertens Trucking. After his marriage, he worked as a dispatcher for Rollo Homes in Marshfield. In 1968 they moved to Medford where he joined the family business (Mertens Chrysler) until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed curling, golfing, traveling, water activities, dancing and spending time with his family. He served for 6 years in the Medford National Guard.
