JANET M. NIEMUTH


Janet Marcella Niemuth passed away on October 26, 2019 at the age of 81. Her body was cremated, and the cremains were interred in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Stetsonville. Hemer Funeral Home of Medford assisted the family with the arrangements.

Mrs. Niemuth, daughter of the late Martin Williams and Selma (Ludwig) Williams, was born in the Township of Hoard in Clark County. She received her education in the Medford Area Schools.

Her marriage to the late Vernon Niemuth took place on May 29, 1958 in Stetsonville, at which time they farmed in the town of Deer Creek before moving to the Medford area in 1968.

Mrs. Niemuth is survived by her children, Cindy Brost (Larry), Dan Niemuth (Susan), Linda Neumueller (Dennis), Amy Halopka (Brian), Rodney Niemuth (Brenda), 13 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include two sisters, Norma Kraemer and Sharon Kraemer, and two brothers, David Williams (Shirley) and Dale Williams (Kimberly – friend).

She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, two brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law.

The family would like to thank Hemer Funeral Home for their assistance. The family would also like to thank the staff of Aspirus Care and Rehab in Medford for their compassionate care, as well as the supporting staff of Aspirus Hospice Care.

A celebration of life for Janet will be held 11:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at BS Bar in Medford.

ELAINE B. PILLER


Elaine B. Piller, 88, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Palliative Care Aspirus Hospital at Wausau, WI. Cremation rites have been accorded and a private family service will be held.

Elaine Fischer was born on October 27, 1930 at Marathon City, WI to the late Peter and Agnes (Lemmer) Fischer. She attended Medford area schools.

On August 5, 1950 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, she married Harold O. Piller, who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and partner with her husband in various area businesses. Elaine always enjoyed reading, a love of the outdoors and going on road trips with her children during her later years. She had a deep interest in the bible and sharing this with family and others.

Elaine is survived by her six children: Kenneth (Maryann) of Marshfield, James of Medford, Debra of Medford, Joseph (Anna) of New Jersey, Mary of Chicago, IL and Anthony of Minneapolis, MN; two sisters: Angeline Patton of Medford and Maryann Curly of Florida; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two brothers Marvin and David; two sisters Alice in childhood and Deloris “Lori” (Glen) Higgins.

ELAINE E (VALENTINE) SERVAIS


Elaine E. (Valentine) Servais, age 94, passed away on October 17, 2019 at Aspirus Care and Rehab under the care of Hope Hospice, where she had been residing for the past 3 weeks.

Elaine was the fourth of nine children born at home in Detroit, MI on July 8, 1925 to Cecelia (Detloff) and Alphonse Valentine. After graduation from Annunciation Catholic High School in 1943, she was employed at Hudson Motor Company and the Veterans’ Administration. At the end of WWII, the adventurous Elaine, along with one of her sisters and two friends, traveled to Great Lakes Naval Base for the opportunity of earning $50 a week to process the large volume of naval personnel returning home from the war.

 It was while employed there that she met her future spouse, Donald Servais, from Kenosha, WI. The couple was wed on June 7, 1947 in Detroit, MI. They then moved to Madison, WI, where Donald pursued his education at the University of WI and Elaine held various clerical jobs.  After Donald completed his studies, the couple made their home in Kenosha, WI. Like many other woman of her generation, Elaine was primarily a housewife and mother until her children were raised. She was a member of two monthly Women’s Bridge Clubs, an Adoptive Mothers’ support group, Sweet Adelines  Chorus and Catholic Women’s Club. Once her daughters were older, she was employed at S.P.E.B.S.Q.A (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartets of America) in Kenosha.

After Donald’s death in 2005, Elaine moved to Medford, WI to be closer to family and she became a much loved resident at Country Gardens, Care Partners and most recently, Our House Assisted Living. While she was able, she enjoyed participating in the Country Gardens float in the Halloween parade, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, the Red Hat Ladies visits, playing cards and bingo. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

In addition to her spouse and parents, Elaine was preceded in death by sisters: Cecilia Allor, Mary Dietz, and Jean Valentine and brothers: George Valentine and Anthony Valentine.

Elaine is survived by daughters: Terri (Mark) Hubbard of Medford, WI and Nancy Servais-Ford of Norfolk, VA; sisters: Lenore Biebel of Michigan, Margaret Ramant of Florida and Carol (Frank) Ferri of Illinois and sister-in-law: Janet Valentine of Michigan. She is further survived by four grandchildren: Vanessa (Ryan) Hillebrand, Jared (Tara) Hubbard, Noah (Kim Smith) Hubbard and Chelsea (Jeremy) Zenner and 10 great-grandchildren: Ezra, Raina, Brandon, Ethan, Isaiah, Kai, Myah, Tanner, Bryer and Willow.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 1, 2019 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, with Rev. David Clements officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, November 1, 2019 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford from 10 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice or perform a random act of kindness in Elaine’s memory.

BERNARD "BERNIE" E. SCHATZ


Bernard “Bernie” E. Schatz, 87, of Ogema, passed away at Clark County Rehab, due to Alzheimer’s, with his wife by his side.

Bernie was born on March 8, 1932 to Martin and Otilla (Locks) Schatz in Ashland. He graduated from Ondossagon High School in Ashland. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture from UW-River Falls and his Master’s of Science from UW-Madison. He also attended North Dakota State University and UC-Berkley as a recipient of National Science Grants. He taught middle school in Port Wing, Beloit, and Minneapolis before retiring from teaching.  He then went to work for the Minneapolis Post Office, where he worked in Mechanical Maintenance, installing the bar code machines for envelopes until his retirement. He married Barbara A. Andree at the Ogema Baptist Church on June 8, 1957, she survives.

Bernie loved to spend time on the Ogema farm, caring for his honey bees, tapping maple trees, cutting firewood, and playing with his great-grandchildren. Bernie was well traveled, having visited the Galapagos Islands, the 4 Scandinavian countries, and all the states except Alaska.

In addition to his wife Bernie is survived by his children, Randy (June) Schatz of Robinsdale, MN, and Ricky Schatz of Shakopee, MN; grandchildren, Teliah, Mariah, Lydiah, Andrew, and Amanda; 8 great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by one sister Carole Provorse of San Antonio, TX and many other family and friends.

Bernie is preceded in death by his parents, and sibling, Carl, Ervin, and Doris.

Per Bernie’s request, his body was donated to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

RANDY L. SACKMANN


Randy L. Sackmann, age 63, a Town of Deer Creek Resident, passed away Monday, October 14, 2019 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital where he had been a patient for the past two days.

Per his request, cremation rites have been accorded and a Memorial Visitation will take place on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford Chapel from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Interment of his cremated remains will be at Stetsonville Public Cemetery.

Randy was born March 2, 1956 in Medford to the late Elizabeth F. (Baumer) and Clarence C. Sackmann. He attended Stetsonville elementary schools and Medford High School. Randy resided in Phillips and worked at Marquip for a period of time. Presently, he was employed by Freudenthal Manufacturing in Medford. In his free time, Randy enjoyed being a private pilot who flew out of the Medford airport, fishing, remote controlled boats, hunting, and hobby farming. Randy was a member of Hobbyland Flyers.

Randy is survived by his siblings, Rick of Stetsonville, Lennethe Adams and Kathryn (Jeff) Klinger, both of Medford, and Theresa (Samuel) Zagorski of Gilman and six nieces/nephews.

In addition to his parents, Randy is preceded in death by his brothers: Ronald, in 2015, and Brian, in 2017.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given to Randy’s family for a future designation.

KAREN J. NOZISKA


Karen J. Noziska, 68, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, October 12, 2019 with her daughter at her side under the care of Ascension at Home Hospice.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a private graveside service will take place at Mount Olive Cemetery in the spring.

Karen was born on March 1, 1951 to Jerome and Ethel (Miller) Noziska in Milwaukee.  She graduated from New Berlin High School in 1969. Following high school Karen rode in dressage horse shows, where horse and rider perform from memory a series of predetermined movements. Later in life, Karen enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and watching the birds. Her Lutheran Faith was important to her and she was very proud of her Czech heritage. She worked for Tombstone for many years and later retired from Marathon Cheese.

She is survived by her daughter Katie Noziska (significant other Calvin Grube) of Westboro; two sisters Patricia Scheel of Greenwood and Judy (Donald) Gohde of Fort Myers, FL. and their children Scott and Wayne Jr. Scheel, Wendy, Ronald, and Duane Reusch; and canine companion Roxy.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Wayne Scheel and many members of her Simek family.

BRUCE D. PAUL

Bruce D. Paul, 69, of Stetsonville, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.

Bruce was born on November 3, 1949 to Vernon and Grace (Wegerer) Paul in Medford. He was educated at Medford schools and graduated from Medford High School in 1967. He then went to NTC and earned his associate degree. He went to work for Jarp Manufacturing for a few years, before starting Paul’s Upholstery in Stetsonville. He then went to work for Parrett Manufacturing until his retirement. He married Patricia Fobes on August 17, 1968, they were later divorced. He married Susan Glamann on July 21, 1993, she survives.

Bruce was also assistant fire chief of the Stetsonville Fire Department for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed shooting guns, hunting, woodworking, and reloading ammo.

In addition to his wife, Bruce is survived by his son, Mike (RaShel) Paul of Medford, step-daughter Sara (Cody) Dickrell of Milladore, grandchildren, Megan and Emma Paul, step-grandchildren Charlie and Blaze Dickrell, and siblings, Roger Paul of Hubertus, Lee (Karen) Paul and Tammy (Denny) Frey both of Medford. Bruce is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Bruce is preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at the Centennial hall in Stetsonville on November 9, 2019 from 12:00 pm until 3:00 PM.

DOROTHY P. WILLE



Dorothy P. Wille, age 95, of Medford, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 at her residence under the care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care.

Funeral services for Dorothy will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Whittlesey with Rev. Gary Lodholz officiating. Visitation will take place that morning from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the Luncheon at Evergreen I Cemetery in Medford. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers, Guy Polacek, Kim Polacek, Lee Miller, Ryan Miller, Jessica Washburn and Jason Wille. Serving as Honorary Pallbears are Neal Polacek and Robert Hansen.

Dorothy was born on June 29, 1924 in Rib Lake to Joseph and Ludmilla (Hein) Vlach. She attended Mud Lake Country School. When she was a young lady before marriage, she worked at Continental Can in Chicago making water canteens for the Army during World War II and also at Gimble’s in Milwaukee as a store clerk. Dorothy married Adolf Gustav Wille on April 7, 1945 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rib Lake, Wisconsin. He proceeded her in death in 2004. Dorothy was a homemaker, raising her eight children.

In her free time Dorothy enjoyed gardening, fishing, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards especially 500 Rummy with her grandchildren, or anyone that would like to play, and spending time with her family. Dorothy was head cook at the Chelsea conservation club for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Whittlesey.

Left to cherish in Dorothy’s memory are her children: Linda Garrett of Port Orange, FL, Roger Wille, Nancy (Rich) Rohland, David (Chris) and Ralph Wille all of Medford; her eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy, was also proceeded in death by her husband, Adolf; children Dennis, Barbara and Alan; grandchild Michele, her five sisters, and six brothers, Dorothy always said she was  “the last of the Mohicans.”

EUGENE M. CEDZO

Eugene M. Cedzo, 84, of Rib Lake, passed away on October 2, 2019 at his residence, under the care of Hope Hospice and surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial service for Eugene will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake, with Father Michael Hayden & Father Hrudaya Raju Sunkara officiating. Burial will follow at a Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake with military rites performed by the Spirit American Legion. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake.

Eugene was born on April 6, 1935 in Rhinelander to Frank Cedzo and Alice (Gauther) Heiser. He attended Rhinelander schools. Eugene was united in marriage to Florence J. Burnett on July 9, 1955 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rhinelander.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 – 1957 & 1958 – 1961. He was a member of the Spirit American Legion. Eugene worked for Allied Van Lines, Magnuson Mink Ranch and Medford Fur Foods. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, word search puzzles, tinkering in his garage and spending time with his family.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 64 years, Florence of Rib Lake; children: Cathy (Dennis) Scheithauer and Nancy (Ray) Duerr both of Rib Lake; 3 grandchildren: Justin (Laura) Peterson, Morgan Duerr and Hailey Duerr; 4 great-grandchildren: Vaeta Mae Peterson, Easton Peterson, Braxten Grajkowski, Jaisyn Peterson; 5 sisters: Peggy Priser of Hunington, IL, Betty Quednow of Rib Lake, Shirley Andrea, of Spirit, Pearl (Sam) Tackett and Edie (Bill) Sunderlin both of Fond du Lac and 2 brothers: John (Pat) Heiser of Rib Lake and Jim (Delores) Heiser of Merrill.

JOYCE A. HART

Joyce A. Hart, 70, of Medford, formerly of Rubicon, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.

Joyce was born on July 21, 1949 to Raymond and Gladys (Stapleton) Mosciskis. She went to school in Hartland. She married Robert Hart on July 1, 1972.

In her spare time she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and gardening.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Robert, children, Brian and Joanne Hart, both of Medford, grandchildren Tyler, Taylor, Kaley, Ryan, Corey, Anna, Eric, Megan, and Emilie, and one great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by her sibling, Jim Mosciskis, Jan (Leon) Weber, Cheryl (Jim) Rodhe, Mary Mosciskis and Carol Mosciskis. Joyce is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Lisa Hart.
