James “Jazz” M. Jaslowski, 75, a longtime Medford area resident, died on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, where he had been a patient for the past 2 days. For the last 2 ½ years, he has resided at Aspirus Care & Rehab, Medford.
Memorial services for Jim will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 7 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford. Father Patrick O’Connell will officiate and military rites will be performed by the Medford Area Military Honors Team. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be at the church that same day from 12 noon until the time of services at 1 PM.
James “Jim” was born April 24, 1944 at Medford, the son of Michael J. & Gertrude H. (Totzke) Jaslowski. He attended Holy Rosary Grade School and was a 1963 graduate of Medford High School. Jim was previously married and later divorced.
After his education, he worked for Richard Williams Construction, Weather Shield Mfg. and Tombstone Pizza Corp. until ill health forced his retirement in 1999. He retired from the Wisconsin National Guard after 21 years of service in 1991. Jim loved hunting and fishing, made thousands of fishing jig’s and fly’s and sold them as Jazz’s Jigs. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford and the Medford American Legion.
Survivors include his siblings, Barbara (Marvin) Egle of Ladysmith, Julee Roudebush of Algonquin, IL, and Daniel of Medford. He is further survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Jim Roudebush.
