MARRIAGE: March 27, 1948 at the Methodist Church in Ashland to Caroline M. Higgins and she preceded him in death on October 3, 2004.
PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: After school, Willie worked in Portland and
Vancouver’s ship yards until joining the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in
Okinawa, Japan during the Pacific Theatre from 1944-1946. After returning from the military, he worked
at Steel Structures in Ashland for a couple of years, where he built Quonset
huts. He then worked at various businesses in Medford such as: Eggert’s, Wisconsin Bottle Gas, Hartwig and
Ruesch Funeral Home, Mondeaux Millwork. In 1979 Willie retired from Liberty
Homes in Dorchester. In his retirement, he enjoyed chauffeuring his Amish
friends. Willie enjoyed watching the Brewers, Packers and Badgers. He was an
avid deer hunter, enjoyed the outdoors, tinkering out and about in his garage.
He enjoyed going for car rides with his family and looking out and helping his
kids. Wilfred was a very proud American.
