They owned & operated Hull’s Lake Resort in the Town of Molitor from 1973-1994. She worked at Stonecroft Manor following her husband’s death from 1991-2001. She enjoyed baking, socializing with her friends at Hull’s Lake, dancing, sewing & spending time with her family.

Then she did part time work for H & R Block, Stetsonville Oil, Aramark & most recently as a secretary for Community United Church of Christ, Medford. She helped start the Stetsonville First Responder program in 2004 and was a member until 2014 & she was a Taylor County Aspirus Hospital EMT from 2005-2014. She was a Red Cross volunteer from 2005-2014. She enjoyed quilting, reading and her grandsons.

EUGENE "GENE" W. ARNETT

Eugene “Gene” W. Arnett, 84, of Medford, passed away on January 21, 2017 at Aspirus Care & Rehab, Medford. Gene was born on December 9, 1932 in Marshfield to Leonard and Erna Arnett, they precede him in death. He was a 1951 graduate of Marshfield High School, 1955 graduate of Central State Teachers College, and 1961 graduate of the University of Iowa with a Masters in Hospital Administration. He married Carol E. Smith on September 3, 1955, she survives.

Gene was the president of Memorial Hospital of Taylor County from 1962 until his retirement in 1997. Gene was also the Chairman of the Wisconsin Hospital Association, Chairman of the Tri State Association in 1973, the recipient of the Harold Coombs Award in 1975, recipient of Medford Man of the Year in 1975, board member of the American Hospital Association from 1984 to 1988, where he also served as the Chairman in 1988. He proudly served his country in the Wisconsin National Guard for 23 years where he earned the rank of major.

In his spare time Gene was a member of Kiwanis, the Historical Society, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, American Legion, Tee High Golf Course, and former member and President of the Medford Curling Club. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as a past Congregational President and longtime choir member.

In addition to his wife Gene is survived by his five children, Denise (David) Thiede, E. Stuart (Kristin) Arnett, Lisa (Gerry) Jiskra, Jon (Amy) Arnett, James (Missy) Arnett; nine grandchildren, John (Kevin Graham) Thiede, Alyssa Thiede, Lindsey (Ryan) Mitchell, Emily (Jesse) Sams, Christian Arnett, Zakary Arnett, Katherine Arnett, Alex Arnett, Matthew Jiskra; four step-grandchildren, Megan (Eric) Clapp, Paul Koepnick, Seth Koepnick, Annaka (Marcos Quiles) Koepnick; three great- grandchildren Lillian, Beau, and Avery. He is further survived by many other friends and family.

In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his brother Leonard Arnett in 2000.

Funeral services for Gene will be held on Thursday, January 26 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Whittlesey with Rev Randal Jeppesen. Burial will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Visitation will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church, Whittlesey on Thursday January 26 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. HERMAN C. DOHRWARDT


Herman C. Dohrwardt, Jr., 85, of Medford, passed away Wednesday January 18, 2017 at his home. Herman was born March 18, 1931 in Medford to Herman and Anna (Haney) Dohrwardt. They precede him in death. He married Ardella Dassow at Trinity Lutheran Church on October 5, 1963. Ardella survives. He is further survived by Children: Ricky (Nancy) Dohrwardt of Rib Lake, Randy (Katrina) Dohrwardt of Medford, Ryan (Bobbie) Dohrwardt of Pulaski, Renee (David) Jacobsen of Medford and Rod (Muzzy) Dohrwardt of Medford, Grandchildren: Mikey, Taran, Brett, Wyatt, Amanda and Zach Dohrwardt, and Nicole Jacobsen. Herman worked as a carpenter for several companies in the Medford area, and owned his own dairy farm. He worked for Weathershield on the production line, and also volunteered at the Sr. Citizen center. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry work and watching Nascar. ROBERT "BOB" LAMBERTY



Robert “Bob” Lamberty, a Whittlesey resident, passed away on January 16, 2017 at his home under the care of his wife, family, and Hope Hospice. Bob was born on August 3, 1937 in Medford to Oliver and Catherine (Brandner) Lamberty. They precede him in death.

Bob was a brother to Donna (Mike) Roiger of Whittlesey, Roy (Midge) who precedes him in death, and Roman (Lois) Lamberty of Texas.

Bob went to school in Whittlesey and graduated from Medford High School in 1955. After school Bob went west with a few friends working various jobs from California to South Dakota. After a short courtship he married Mary Roiger on July 25, 1959. They lived in Milwaukee a few years until they purchased the family farm in 1966. Bob farmed, logged, and was a part time mail carrier. He became a full time mail carrier in 1989 and sold the farm to his son Luke. Bob retired in 2000.

In addition to his wife Bob is survived by his 3 children, Dawn, Rob (Joy Hoff), and Luke (Donna Grossel) ; 4 grandchildren, Michael, Barbara (Clayton) Denzine, Katie (Curt Quednow), and Dustin (Chandel) ; 7 great-grandchildren, Austin, Kameron, Sophia, Amelia, Kiana, Gavin, and Adeline all of Whittlesey. He is further survived by many other family and friends.

Bob was a member of OLPH Catholic Church in Whittlesey, President of Whittlesey Baseball Association for 52 years, active member and past president of the Rib Lake Lions, and charter member of The We Whittlesey Whizzers Snowmobile Club.

Bob enjoyed bowling in Rib Lake for many years and bowling in Medford. Bob and Mary also enjoyed traveling all over the U.S., making Italian sausage, and taking care of the great-grandchildren. The great-grandkids are going to miss their Rocking Chair.

 Bob was hard working, fun loving man. Never a man to shy away from a party or to sit in the corner and watch. He always had a joke or a quick comment.

A memorial mass for Bob will take place on Wednesday, January 25 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in the Town of Chelsea with Father Phil Juza and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating; burial will follow at OLPH Catholic Cemetery, the Town of Chelsea. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 24 at OLPH Catholic Church in the Town of Chelsea from 4:00 PM until the time of a prayer service at 7:00PM. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday, January 25 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Then he worked construction for Stevens Construction while residing in Newburg. He then owned & operated an auto salvage business in Fredonia for 3 years. In 1980 he moved to the Town of Spirit where he owned/operated Spirit Sales and Service doing auto sales & repair.
Then he worked as a field tech for Entech Electronics until retirement in 2013. He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, guns, gun shows & fixing things.

EMILY M. KOFLER


Emily M. Kofler, 90, of Rib Lake, passed away on Sunday January 15, 2017 at Country Gardens in Medford.
Emily was born November 2, 1926 in Rib Lake to Joseph and Frances (Borovay) Szczurek. She is a graduate of Rib Lake High School.
Emily married Leonard J. Kofler at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rib Lake on Nov. 29, 1947. Leonard survives.
She is further survived by her children: Marie (Dale) Lindwall of Wausau, Michael (Kathy) Kofler of Prentice, Peter Kofler of Marshfield, 8 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her Parents, Daughter Vickie Ann Wudi, and all of her Brothers and Sisters.
Emily was employed by Gem Products and worked on the production line and Rib Lake Health Care Center where she worked in housekeeping. She also ran the family dairy farm in Rib Lake, and enjoyed horseshoes and polka music.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church Catholic Order of Foresters and Christian Mothers.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Wednesday January 18, 2017 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake. Father Otto Bucher will officiate. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Rosary will be said Wednesday morning at Good Shepherd Church beginning at 9:30 and  visitation will follow from 10:00  AM until the time of service at 11 AM.
Memorial donations in honor of Emily can be given to Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

JOHN J. "JACK" WUDI


John J. “Jack” Wudi, 75, a Town of Greenwood resident, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at his home.
Jack was born July 9, 1941 in Medford to Bernard and Ida (Born) Wudi. They precede him in death.
He is survived by his siblings: Sally (Ken) Asselin of St. Francis, Kathleen (late Ron) Frahmann of Racine, Kenneth (late Vickie) Wudi of Medford and Carol Vlasis of Schofield, 8 Nieces, 1 Nephew and many friends and neighbors.
Jack graduated from Rib Lake High School.  He then went on to be a lifetime farmer, and ran his own farm in the Town of Greenwood. He loved to spend time outside cutting firewood, gardening, picking berries and taking care of his animals, especially his dog, and watching deer. Jack will always be remembered for lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
He was of the Catholic faith, and was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM, Friday January 13, 2017 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake. Father Otto Bucher will officiate. Visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Church from 9:30 until the time of Mass at 11. Cremation rites will follow services; burial of cremated remains will take place at St. Anne’s Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Jack can be given to the St. Anne’s Historical Society.

PRINCIPLE EVENTS IN LIFE:  After their marriage, they lived in Detroit where she cooked at Stauffer’s Restaurant for a period of time.  They moved to the Westboro area in 1953 where they farmed.  In 1957 they moved to the Rib Lake area where they farmed and she worked at Glovette Shoe Factory for a period of time.  She enjoyed horseback riding, rosemalling, traveling to craft/rosemalling shows & landscape painting.

 MEMBER OF:  St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rib Lake since 1957 and its Ladies Aid of which she was president for many years

PRINCIPLE EVENTS IN LIFE: After her education, she went to work for her father who owned Midway Telephone Company in Medford. She worked as the office manager until 1967. From 1986 – 2006, she worked as an office secretary for Stetsonville Hardware until her retirement. She enjoyed playing the piano/organ, traveling, needlepoint, quilting & her grandchildren.

NILA J. EBERT

Age 86, died Sunday, January 1 at the residence of her daughter in the Town of Holway under the loving care of her family and Hope Hospice. Per her request, there will be no services.

Nila was born March 12, 1930 in Altoona, WI. She was the daughter of Walter Willman and Olive Mae Stillman. Her maternal grandfather was one of the first game wardens in Wisconsin.
Nila was a sister to brothers - Albert, Delos, John & Thomas. She had 2 sisters Eileen & Geraldine. She was married to Joseph Dwight Everson in 1950 in the State of Oregon. Nila & Joseph had an interesting and adventurous life during her first years of marriage. She worked as a fire lookout with her husband in the Grande Tetons at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The only access to the fire towers was by horseback. All supplies had to be packed in on horseback as well. Many of their meals were trout, caught in a nearby stream. She often spoke of this incredible time in her life!

They started a family in 1954 and had 7 children Nila Jo, Mark Anthony (Sally), Daniel Lynn (Karen), Julie Marie, Juanita Mary (Kevin), Kathleen Ann, and Nathan Thomas (Tina).

In 1967 Nila was married to Carl Ebert and moved to Mosinee, WI. They lived in the country where they grew wonderful vegetable gardens and canned all their food, along with raising all their meat.

Through the years, Nila continued to travel out west with her children, camping and enjoying all the beautiful places along the way. She passed her love of travel to all her children. Her beloved chihuahua, Jasper was always by her side.

ESTA M. VLACH


Esta Mae Vlach, 92, of Rib Lake, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Golden Living Center, Rib Lake.     Esta was born September 14, 1924 in Harold, KY to James and Margaret (White) Keathley. She attended Pikesville High School in Pikesville, KY. She married Emil Vlach on December 26, 1945 in Dallas, TX. Emil preceded her in death on February 21, 2007.         
 She is survived by her Daughters: Joan(Mick) Klein of Grafton, Linda (Jerry) Stellbrink and LaNah (Jerry) Brahmer, both of Medford, Grandchildren: Joyce (Dan) Pond of Cameron, Susan Klein of Milwaukee, Michele (Kas Raymer) Klein of Manhattan, KS, Amber (Nick) Stroud of Wauwatosa, Renea (Monty) Henke of Medford, Todd (Katie) Brahmer of Medford, Great Grandchildren: Tyler Henke, Brevin Brahmer, Mark and Matthew Pond, Abram,  Grant, and Iris Stroud, Sister in law: Donna Sipla of Coloma, MI and many nieces and nephews.
Esta is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Brothers: James and Howard Keathley and Sister: Mavis Goodman.            
 Upon completion of high school, Esta moved to Columbus, Ohio  and was recruited by the Women’s Army Corps and went on to Basic Training in Presque Isla, Maine and was trained as a Medic. She was transferred to Dallas, where she met Emil. Upon Emil’s completion of his military enlistment, they returned to Rib Lake. Esta worked for Glovette Shoe Company and Gem Products for over 20 years, and retired due to health concerns. She moved to the Golden Living Center in Rib Lake in 2008 where she enjoyed playing music and participating in games of Bingo. Esta was very proud of her military service, and remained patriotic her entire life. She loved the American Flag, and always enjoyed singing Patriotic songs and hymns.          
 She was a devout Christian, and a member of the Rib Lake United Methodist Church, and American Legion Post 274.            
 A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Friday January 6, 2017 at the Rib Lake United Methodist Church. Pastor Angel Rosario will officiate. Burial and Military Honors will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Rib Lake. Visitation will be held Friday morning at the church from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM.
