PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: After their marriage, Alvin and Pat owned and operated a dairy farm in the Township of Maplehurst, where she was also a homemaker and caretaker. In 1995 she worked in the kitchen at Memorial Health Center and then Country Gardens until her retirement in 2007. She enjoyed gardening, watching hummingbirds, canning, sewing and crocheting. In her younger years pat enjoyed snowmobiling.

GERALD “JERRY” W. FREY

Gerald “Jerry” W. Frey, 91, Town of Little Black resident, former Town of Deer Creek resident, was pronounced dead at 12:18 P.M. Sunday, July 14 at his residence under the care of his family with the assistance of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday, July 19 at the First Baptist Church, Medford with Rev Grant Brown, Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services at 4:00 P.M. Friday, July 19 at First Baptist Church, Medford with burial to follow at Medford Evergreen II Cemetery, Medford. Pallbearers will be Jerry and Jesse Frey, Sean Bryant, Chris Dearth, Jody and Raymond Davis.

Gerald W. Frey was born on May 11, 1922 in the Town of Browning to William and Wanda (Schmoldt) Frey. He was a 1940 graduate of Medford High School and also attended North Central Technical College, Medford.

On October 28, 1944 at Dorchester he married Delores Tischendorf and she preceded him in death on December 31, 1979. 2nd marriage was on December 2, 1983 at Athens to Patricia Blake and she preceded him in death on December 18, 2002. 3rd marriage to Annabel Seidl was on October 20, 2003 and she preceded him in death on February 18, 2004 and 4th marriage was on March 19, 2005 at Vancleave, Mississippi to Doris Schloss and she preceded him in death in 2008. He was a lifelong dairy farmer in Stetsonville. Jerry also worked for the U.S. Forest Service and a grader patrolman for the Town of Little Black. He enjoyed square and polka dancing. Jerry was an avid reader. Former member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville and served on the Pleasant View Cheese Factory board.

Surviving to cherish his memory are sons: Dennis (Linda) of Lucedale, Mississippi and David ( Mary) of Stetsonville; daughters: Dianne (Raymond) Davis of Lucedale, Mississippi, Darla (Ken) Carrio of Saraland, Alabama and Doreen (Jim) Fierke of Stetsonville; 15 Grandchildren and 26 Great-Grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wives; sister Evelyn McGuire; brothers Victor and Vernon; Son-In-Law Johnnie Bryant.

GERALD “JERRY” J. DUESING

Gerald “Jerry” J. Duesing, 88, City of Medford resident, died on Saturday, July 13 at the Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center, Medford where he had resided for the past 5 years and under the care of Hope Hospice and the loving care of the staff at Memorial Health Center. A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 P.M. Friday, July 26 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Medford with Pastor Nancy Amacher officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until the time of services at 12:00 Noon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Medford. The family invites you to continue a celebration of Jerry’s life with music and stories to be shared at the Medford VFW; after the funeral luncheon at the church.
Gerald Duesing was born on December 7, 1924 in Medford to Ervin and Mary (Loeffler) Duesing. He attended elementary schools in Medford and attended Westboro High School where he graduated in 1942.
He served in the U.S. Army for two years and on February 17, 1946 he married Betty Dodge and she preceded him in death on March 29, 2002. They lived in the Medford area on various farms while Jerry worked at a factory, as well as running the farm with his wife. He also worked various jobs throughout the years of raising his children. Jerry worked at the Medford Creamery, Kress Dairy, Hurd and Weathershield Window factories. He also operated a corn delivery business to various farms throughout the state for a few years. He then began working in the woods for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Medford. Jerry was an avid baseball player in his younger years, he never went anywhere without his baseball glove and shoes in case someone needed him to fill in on a team. He eventually switched to slow pitch softball, but not until he was 45 years old and continued playing until he was 70. He was still a great pitcher and hitter.
Of course music has always been a part of Jerry’s life since he was very young. On the farm there were many jam sessions with all kinds of talented relatives; singing along with the guitars and piano were always a part of family gatherings no matter where the parties took place. Jerry and Betty had a band called Betty, Jerry and the Ranch Hands and they played for many wedding receptions, reunions, private parties and in taverns throughout the area. Throughout Jerry’s life, he never went without his guitar in case someone needed him to entertain them. His guitar was his #1 love throughout his life.
Jerry was an avid fisherman and hunter; he always had many great stories to tell someone about some of those adventures.
Survivors include his children: Lance (Mary) of Franklin, Nancy (Joe) Wojcik of Medford, Beverly Duesing of Colfax, Rick (Bev) of Medford, Jim (Lynn) of Hastings, Minnesota, Sherry (Jim) Slocum of St. Paul, Minnesota and Sheila (Significant Other: Phil Lewandowski) of Medford; a sister: Norma (Walter) Anderson of Little Black; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also survived by Nieces, Nephews, Other Relatives and Many Friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: Melvin and Leslie and Harvey, who died at age 3; sisters: Eldora Lissner and Marion Duesing

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: Vince worked on a mink ranch since the age of 14, after school, weekends and during the summer. Vince worked in Laona for about 9 months in a flooring factoring in the spring of 1942 until being drafted in November 1942. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII from November 1942 till February 1946. In November 1942 he did his basic training in Utah, he then spent six weeks at Fort Sheridan, IL. To be a meat and dairy inspector. Vince then was at South Carolina Columbia Air Base for two in a half years in Veterinary Detachment; a branch of the Medical Department. It involved inspecting meat and dairy. He also vaccinated guard dogs and all pilots had dogs. Vince and Pearl were married and lived in South Carolina; transferred to Nebraska for 3 months; transferred to Kansas until he was honorably discharged. From 1946-1951 he managed Ben Ruesch Mink Ranch. He then worked for Ed Dittrich mink ranch 2 summers before going into the service and after his return he worked full time from 1952-1955. Vince then built, owned and operated a mink ranch in Rib Lake from 1955 until his retirement in 1987. In 1987, they moved to the Stetsonville area.
Enjoyed working with his mink, playing cards, watching sports and reading.

He enjoyed bowling, reading at the library, talking about old times, taking pictures, snowmobiling, and exercising.
