GORDON R. NELSON
Gordon R. Nelson, 94 of Medford, Wisconsin died Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. He was born on November 15, 1919 in Little Black Township, Taylor County the son of Otto and Mathilde (nee Nelson) Nelson. On May 21, 1955 he married Delores Tylke at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford. Gordon was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army in the European Theatre. He owned and operated his own dairy farm for 51 years retiring in 1989. Gordon also worked for the Medford Co-Op Feed Mill for several years. After his retirement he worked for the National Forest Service for a number of years. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a charter member of Klossner-Dietzler Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No.5729 in Medford. Gordon was an avid reader, enjoyed a good joke and loved the outdoors.
SURVIVORS: Gordon is survived by his wife Delores Nelson, a resident of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home, five children, Gordon R. PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: In his early years, he worked for Norbert Egle as a farm hand. In 1940 he worked as a bridge builder and painter for the Soo Line Railroad. 1942-1946 he served in the US Army a veteran of WW II. After the military, he took over the family farm in the Town of Medford. In 1950 he went to work for Hurd Millwork until 1968. Then he went to work for Presto Industries in Eau Claire until 1975. From 1975 until his retirement in 1987, worked at the Weather Shield Vinal Plant in Medford. He enjoyed fishing, bird watching, polka music, reading, camping & traveling.
