Geneva L. Guziak, 96, of Country Gardens, Medford, passed away on Friday August 25, 2017 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.
She was born on August 13, 1921 in Medford, WI to the late John and Martha (Zacher) Furland. She was married to the late Michael Guziak Sr. on August 2, 1941 in Medford, Wisconsin.
Geneva and her husband moved to Medford in 1943 from Chicago, IL where they farmed for 10 years. After farming they operated a mink ranch for 20 years until she became a CNA at Medford Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1987. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, traveling, and was an avid canasta player and loved her search-a-word books.
She was a member of Gad Homemakers for over 70 years, Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Red Hat Ladies.
Geneva is survived by her children Patricia Bucki of Medford, Michael (Margie) Guziak Jr. of Medford, Judith (Paul) Nelson of Watersmeet, MI; 11 grandchildren: Bruce (Tami), Brian (Becky), Blake (Michelle), Bradley (Jessica), David, Daniel (Caroline), Diane (Scott), Debi (Eric), Kurt (Heidi), Marla (Matt) and Ashley (Stephan); 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren; sister Vernice Selby of Menominee Falls, WI, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents Geneva is preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Redszus, son-in-law, Lyman Bucki & sister, Elida Langer.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday September 1, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. Father Phil Juza will officiate. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church Friday September 1, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made out to the family of Geneva to be designated at a later date.
