In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, traveling, spending
time with his family and grandchildren, going out to eat, visiting friends, spending
time in the woods, doing fieldwork, and attending church.
He was theTownship of Bern Supervisor, and Board Member of
the Medford Co-Op, and member of the VFW and Knights of Columbus.
John is survived by his daughter, Mary (Kip) Swope of Rib
Mountain and three sons Kevin, John M., and Brian (Laura Thums) Gallistel , all
of Medford; two grandsons Michael and Alex, both of Rib Mountain. He is further
survived by three sisters, Noreen Cywinski of IL, Mary Grant of Schofield , and
Donna Faber of Medford.
In addition to his
wife and parents, John is preceded in death by his siblings, Donald, Jim, Bob,
and Jeanne.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday,
August 29 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father David Nueschwander
officiating; burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation
will take place on Tuesday August 29 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 9:00
AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM
In lieu of flowers memorials in John’s name may be given to
the family for use at a later designation.
