EDUCATION: Attended High School. Bernadine left high school to care for her younger siblings while her mother worked.

MARRIAGE: August 3, 1947 in North Dakota to Gerald “Jerry” R. Ziehlke

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: Bernadine spent much of her younger life caring for her younger siblings. She lost her father when she was nine years old. Her mother, Alda had to work to provide for the family. Her parents were Frederick Brede and Alda Miller. Bernadine was the second of five children. After her mother remarried, Bernadine became the sister of four more siblings. She met the love of her life, Gerald and they were married on August 3, 1947. Bernadine loved being a wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved to cook, sew, make crafts, very active in church and had so many other talents. She worked as a waitress and they also raised mink for many years. Bernadine helped with their care. In later years they purchased a Montgomery Wards Store in Medford, which they owned and operated for several years. Eventually they then opened a Furniture Store on Highway 13 in Medford. Bernadine worked full time at both the Montgomery Wards business until it sold and later at the furniture business. Bernadine had many health problems throughout her life but she still managed to overcome them and care for her family and home and do her fair share of providing for their family. Bernadine was a very caring and loving lady and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

RICHARD SYNOL

Richard Synol, age 70, of Shawano, passed away peacefully at his daughters home, under the care of Theda Care Hospice, on August 11, 2015, with family by his side. Richard, also known as “Dickie”, “Dick”, “The Ole Buck”, or “R.J.”, was born on August 30, 1944, in Rib Lake, WI to the late Walter and Bernice Synol. He grew up in Rib Lake and graduated from Rib Lake High School. He joined the service during the Vietnam War and served his country honorably from 1964 to 1968. Upon returning home to Rib Lake, he married Sharon Shawano of Laona. He worked at Gem Products in Rib Lake until it closed. After that, he moved to Green Bay in 1979. He then worked at the Larson Company in Green Bay for many years as a product sample truck driver. He later worked at Gandrud Chevrolet in vehicle prep until his retirement. He loved working on both real and model cars, watching the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR racing, hunting, horseshoes and bowling, but he loved nothing more than spending time with his family. Richard had a kind heart, and made friends wherever he went, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Richard is survived by his two children, Audra Synol-Kruger (David Kruger) and Brandon Synol, both of Green Valley; five grandchildren, Keyyanna, Alex, Crystal, Jade, and Allana; one great granddaughter, Avah; his brother, Raymond (Kathleen) Synol; his former wife Sharon as well as numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ken and Donovan.

A memorial visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home, Rib Lake Chapel, Saturday August 22, 2015 from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM. Cremainal Inurnment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. Graveside Funeral Prayers will be said by Father Otto Bucher. Military Honors will be performed by American Legion Post 517.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: Growing up, Daniel was a star football player in high school, and earned the nick name Dan “The Tank” Sanchez. He was inducted into the Sacramento Mexican-American Sports Hall Of Fame. Daniel worked for Sacramento Municipal Utility District, as a supervisor in their computer department, and retired from there in 1997. He was a US Navy Veteran, serving as a Yeoman in its clerical division. Daniel was an avid Oakland Raiders fan. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He enjoyed restoring old cars, stock car racing, camping, traveling, golfing, fishing, bowling, ballroom dancing and singing barber shop quartet.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: After high school, Melvin joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II from 1941 until 1945 in the Pacific Theater on the Island of Tinian as a bomb loader. After his service, he worked for the Bottle Gas Company in Medford for a period of time. Melvin then worked for his father-in-law at Walter Kraschnewski Construction in Medford for a period of time while also working at Milly’s Bowling Alley. He then worked at Hurd’s Windows and Siding in Medford for 2 years before he became a well-known mink rancher. Melvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing baseball, woodworking and watching his grandchildren play sports.
