DANIEL "DANNY" M. KLINGBEIL

Daniel “Danny” Mark Klingbeil, 63, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020, after a brief struggle with cancer, in Cadott, Wisconsin.

A private burial was held on November 24, 2020, at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford, with a celebration of life to take place at a later date.

Danny was born on September 4, 1957, to Reinhart and Audrey (Wesle) Klingbeil, of Medford, Wisconsin. For forty-four years, Danny found great joy and camaraderie at the Taylor County Achievement Center/Black River Industries—an organization his family and several other families helped create. He had many physical limitations, but there were many things Danny could do. He could give you a smile that would melt your heart. He could brighten your day with that chuckle of his. Danny loved listening to music and watching his favorite television programs. He gave it his all when he played with his favorite things. He taught us about kindness and patience. Danny showed us true inner strength, as he continued to fight battles in health and limitations that would have crushed many of us.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his brother Steven. He is survived by his siblings Mary (John) Raedel, of Altoona; William (Margie) of Medford; Michael of Medford; Nancy (Patrick) Perini of Hilliard, OH; twin Diane Ertl of Eagan, MN; and Timothy, of Medford; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition, Danny is survived by his long-time caregiver Carol Cedarholm of Medford, and his more recent caregivers Tim and Sharie Poppe, of Cadott. The family will be forever grateful for the compassionate and unwavering care provided by Carol, Sharie, and Tim in Danny’s journey through life.

MAL-HUI FISCHER

Mal-Hui Fischer, 68, Medford, died on Sunday, November 22 at her residence under the loving care of her family and Hope Hospice.

Memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 27 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford with Father Patrick McConnell officiating.  Visitation will be at the church from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM that day.  Due to COVID concerns, masks will be required for the visitation and funeral.  Burial of her cremated remains will be in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford.

She was born on January 8, 1952 in Jinhae, South Korea, the daughter of Ock Jin and Jae Soon (Choi) Kim.  She attended South Korean schools.  Her marriage took place on January 10, 1985 at the US Embassy in Seoul South Korea to Steven Peter Fischer.

After her education, she worked as a waitress at the Navy Chief’s Club in South Korea.  After marriage they moved to the USA in 1986, returned to South Korea in 1990 and upon her husband’s retirement, they moved to Medford in 1994.  She worked as a doughboy operator for Tombstone Pizza Corp. until her retirement.  She enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, traveling and shaking dice.  She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, Our Ladies of Holy Rosary, Tee-Hi Golf Club, and the ladies bowling league.

Surviving are her husband, Steven of Medford, children, Peter Richard Fischer of Madison and Kimberly Ann Fischer of Appleton.  Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Angeline Patton of Medford, siblings, Ae Hui (Jung Kwan Lee) Kim, Yang Hui Kim, and Shin Jip Kim all of South Korea and Shin (Nam Sook) Kim of Los Angeles, CA.  She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 half-brothers.

JANE T. LEISCHER

                                     

Jane T. Leischer, 73, Medford died on Saturday, November 21 at her residence under the loving care of her family and Hope Hospice.Funeral services for Jane will be at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, November 25 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford with Father Patrick McConnell officiating.  Visitation will be from noon until the time of services on Wednesday at the church.  Interment will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford with her sons serving as pallbearers.  Due to COVID concerns, masks will be required at the visitation and funeral services.

Jane was born on November 17, 1947 in Medford to Arthur F. and Lucille H. (Schwieso) Gelhaus.  She attended Holy Rosary Catholic School, was a 1965 graduate of Medford High School and also was a graduate of the Sacred Heart School of Nursing, West Allis.  Her marriage took place on May 25, 1968 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford to Thomas Lee Leischer. 

After her education, she worked as a nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee.  In 1971 they returned to Medford to raise their family.  She enjoyed gardening, baking, canning and spending time with her family.  She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, Our Ladies of Holy Rosary, Holy Rosary Prayer Chain and was very active in her church.  Tom & Jane spent their lives together loving and serving as a couple and living their vows in Faith. 

She is survived by her husband Tom of Medford; children, Timothy (Stephanie) Leischer of Merrill, Gregory (Tammy) Leischer of Wausau, Kristine (Scott) Guinter of Green Bay, Katie (Bob) Lisi of Duluth, MN, Andrew (Tabitha) Leischer of Appleton and Matthew Leischer of Superior; grandchildren, William, Madeline, Kaitlyn, Megan, Benjamin, Kaden, Joshua, Jacob, Jenna, Jared, John Paul, Joseph, Jianna, Isaac, Maya, Noranna, Samuel, Owen, Henry, Isabella, Andrew, Sadie and Lucianna; great grandchildren, Jackson and Grace; siblings, Sally (Tony) Kovacik of Milwaukee, Carol (Roland Griffen) Gelhaus of South Carolina, Laura (Dennis) Zuleger of Medford, Susan (Lyle) Jones of Wausau, Peter (Jeanine) Gelhaus of Appleton, Charles (Linda) Gelhaus of Medford, Donna (Steve) Smitala of Schofield, Mark (Linda) Gelhaus of Caledonia and Bob (Rhonda) Gelhaus of Milwaukee.  She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Helen Sapetta Gelhaus, siblings, Mary and Nicholas Gelhaus.

LORRAINE A. SCHMITT

Lorraine A. Schmitt, 92, Medford died on Wednesday, November 18 at her residence in the City of Medford under the loving care of her family and Hope Hospice.

Private family only graveside committal and VFW Auxiliary services were held for Lorraine at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford with Father Patrick McConnell officiating.  Family members served as pallbearers.

Lorraine was born on August 15, 1928 in the Township of Holway, the daughter of Edward J. and Lois R. (Taylor) Millikin.  She attended Stetsonville elementary schools and was a graduate of Medford High School.  Her marriage took place on September 15, 1947 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford to Isadore “Stubby” L. Schmitt and he preceded her in death January 24, 2010.

She waitressed at Club 13, Black Bear Restaurant & Phil and Eleanor’s.  She also was a cooking instructor for the 4-H, quilting instructor for Northcentral Technical College and worked as a cashier at the Medford IGA.  She also did home daycare having served 111 children over the years.  She enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing, cooking, baking, camping and canning.  She donated quilted pillows to the Rusk County Wildlife Restoration Association.  She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Medford and its Ladies of Holy Rosary and was active in the  Medford VFW Auxiliary where she served as a local and district past chairman.

Surviving are her children, David (Mary Ann) Schmitt of Hawkins, Joan (Robert) Mogensen of Sun City, AZ, Michael (Cathy) Schmitt of Wausau, Debra Chamberlain of Medford; grandchildren, Cory, Kimberly, Steven, Traci, Tonya, Misty, Amanda, Jessica, Jeremy and Cassandra, along with 10 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are her siblings, Joyce Langteau of Seymour, WI, Wayne “Butch” (Gerry) Faude of Boise, ID and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings, Lucille Jari, Frances Paff and Clarence Millikin.

LYDIA M.MEYER

Lydia M. Meyer, 100, of Medford, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Aspirus Care and Rehab.

Due to COVID-19 a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Lydia was born on June 22, 1920 to William and Mary (Skabroud) Spreen in Medford. She graduated from Medford High School and she attended Taylor County Teacher College. She married Clifford Meyer on July 9, 1941 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church; he preceded her in death in December 2007.

Lydia worked at the State Bank of Medford before assisting her husband in a home building business until her retirement.

Lydia’s faith was her foundation. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered for the countless meals and baked goods that she made for family and friends. She gave of herself unselfishly to anyone who needed help. Lydia enjoyed her family, singing in the choir, and her volunteer work.

She had a special place in her heart for animals and chocolate!

Her uncanny sense of humor kept us all entertained. Her strength sustained us all.

Lydia is survived by her children, Bonnie Larson of Jeffersonville, IN, Gary (Kris) Meyer of Medford, Patrick (Carol) Meyer of Medford, Ann Marie (Leo) Palmero of Corpus Christi, TX, Dr. Marcus Meyer of Scottsdale, AZ, and Jayne Kinkade of Charlestown, IN; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren. Lydia is further survived by her brother, Elroy (Lorna) Spreen of Medford; sister, Bernice Hirsch of Sparta, and other family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lydia is preceded in death by her brother, William Spreen; sisters, Lillian Pernsteiner and Sylvia Spreen; son-in-law Peter Larson; brothers-in-law, Mark Hirsch and Alvin Pernsteiner; sister-in-law, Ellen Spreen.

GUY LEE BOCKIN

Guy Lee Bockin, 65, of Medford, died on Tuesday, November 10 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where he had been a patient for 3 days.  

A private family ceremony will take place at a later date.  

Guy was born December 31, 1954 in Marshfield, WI, to Donovan and Elaine (Broeske) Bockin.  He grew up on the Bockin family farm south of Stetsonville, WI.  Guy attended Stetsonville Elementary School and graduated from Medford Area Senior High School in 1973. When Guy turned 16 he went to work for Brecke’s Mink Ranch in Stetsonville, WI where he had continued to work at the rest of his life.

Away from work, Guy enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid deer hunter. He also enjoyed fishing, trapping and gardening.  Guy also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers.  He loved spending time with Julie, his wife, who also has passed away on November 15, 2020.  Guy and Julie were married on April 30, 2004 at Zion Lutheran Church, where they were both members.

Guy is survived by his mother Elaine (Broeske) Bockin of Medford, WI; daughters, Jessica (Donald) Holtman of Medford, WI and Amanda Burkhart of Antigo, WI; 6 grand-children all together; brother, Richard Bockin of Stetsonville, WI; sister, Lori (Bob) Reeve of Arena, WI; mother-in-law Lemay Wilde of Abbotsford, WI; father-in-law Gary Quammen of Medford, WI; sister-in-law Roxi (Rod)Robida;  brother-in-law Andy Quammen of Maui, HI. 

Guy is preceded in death by his grandparents.; father, Donovan Bockin of Stetsonville, WI; brothers, Douglas Bockin and Kim Bockin of Stetsonville, WI;  step father-in-law, Gene Wilde, Abbotsford, WI.

MARIE A. TRULEN

Marie A. Trulen, 89, Medford, died on Friday, November 13 at Our House Senior Living, Medford where she had resided for the past 1 year most recently under the care of Hope Hospice.

A memorial mass for Marie will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, November 19 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford with Father Patrick McConnell officiating.  Interment of her cremated remains will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield at a later date.

Marie was born on October 11, 1931 at Marshfield to John and Catherine (Panske) Jonas, the youngest of six siblings.  She attended St. Mary’s School, Bakerville.  Her first marriage was to Jerome Binder at Bakerville and they were later divorced.  Her second marriage was to Sid Trulen at Iowa and they also were later divorced.

She worked with her husband Sid in the snowmobile sales business in the Marshfield area.  They later owned and operated Sid’s Place in the town of Greenwood and The Farm House Supper Club in rural Medford.  She retired from B & B Engineering in Medford.  She will be remembered for her dedication to the Salvation Army.  She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with people.  When anyone needed a prayer for a special intention, they knew they could count on Marie to add them in her prayers.  She was a longtime member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford.

Surviving Marie are 3 step-children, step-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
