HAROLD BARTELT


Harold Bartelt, 91, of Medford, passed away on January 31, 2020 at Aspirus Care and Rehab.

Harold was born on February 15, 1928 to George and Bertha (Klein) Bartelt in the township of Goodrich. He served in the Army Air Force from 1946-1947 and was stationed the Philippines as a right gunner on a B-17. After his service he worked at the Medford Creamery, where he met his wife Frances Kauss. They were married on May 22, 1948. She preceded Harold in death on December 10, 2013.

Harold worked construction most of his life. He worked for Kelly and Baumann Trenching, Mueller pipelines, and Michel’s Pipeline before starting Bartelt Trucking. He owned and operated Bartelt Trucking until his retirement.

Harold is survived by his six children, Terry (Barbara) Bartelt of Oak Creek, Harold (Jayne) Bartelt of Longview, Wash., Edward Bartelt of Cape Coral, Fla., Ronald (Sue) Bartelt of Muskego, Karen (Andy) Prado of West Allis, and Jeff Bartelt of Medford; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Harold is further survived by his brothers Kenneth (Doris) Bartelt of Medford and Bernie (Bernice) Bartelt of New Berlin, sister-in-law Elaine Bartelt of Medford, and many other family and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Harold is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Laura Bartelt; sisters, Ethel Klimeck, Darlene Gordon and in infancy Phyllis; brothers, Melvin (Mary) Bartelt and Donald Bartelt; and brothers-in-law John Klimeck and Ron Gordon.

A memorial service for Harold will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kenneth Bittorf officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will take place at St. Peter’s on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Harold’s name may be given to St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church
