LARRY L. GENGLER

 

Larry L. Gengler, 70, of Stetsonville, died on Sunday, September 20 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital where he had been a patient for the past 2 weeks.

 Private family only services held with Rev. Richard Russow officiating.  There will be a public celebration of life gathering held at a later date.

 Larry was born of July 25, 1950 in Medford, the son of Harold and Melva (Dassow) Gengler.  He attended Brookside Elementary School, town of Medford and was a 1968 graduate of Medford High School.  His marriage to Louise Mary Schilling took place on May 18, 1974 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Whittlesey.

After his education, Larry farmed on the family farm in the town of Medford and traveled the western states for periods of time.  After their marriage, he worked 25 years at Bootzin’s Feed Mill in Stetsonville and at Weather Shield Mfg. in Medford until his retirement in 2009.  He and his wife Louise also owned and operated Gengler’s Bar in Stetsonville for 44 years until recently.  For 20 years he was a volunteer fire fighter with the Stetsonville Fire Dept.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the Green Bay Packers and spending time outdoors.  His greatest joy was deer hunting with his daughter, Krista.  He was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville and the Turkey Federation.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Gengler of Stetsonville, daughter, Krista (Shane) Elliott of Black Creek, WI, brothers-in-law, Howard (Pat) Schilling of Medford & Russell (Ruth) Schilling of the town of Greenwood and his mother-in-law, Carolyn Schilling of Medford.  Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ronald Gengler, sister-in-law, Cindy Piller Gengler, niece, Lori Bokath, and his father-in-law, William Schilling.
