ALYCE E. SCHUPPEL

Alyce “Granny” E. Schuppel, 86, of Riverview Apts., Medford, died on Tuesday, November 3 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital where she was a patient for the past 6 days.

A Celebration of Life gathering will take place from 4-9 PM on Friday, November 13 at Patti Jo’s Crossroads Bar, W5520 Whittlesey Ave., Medford (Whittlesey).  Due to COVID concerns, masks and social distancing will be required..

Alyce was born on January 17, 1934 at Phelps, WI, the daughter of Wilmer and Alma (Maki) Crass.  She attended Phelps and later Westboro grade schools and was a 1952 graduate of Westboro High School.  Her marriage took place on February 28, 1953 at Kohlsville, WI to Donald “Digger” Schuppel and they were later divorced.

After her education, she moved to West Bend where she worked at West Bend Aluminum Co., Amity Leather Products & the West Bent Hospital.  After their marriage, they resided in Kewaskum and Slinger.   In 1972 they moved to the Town of Greenwood and she worked for the Rib Lake Nursing Home.  From 1978 to her retirement in 1996, she worked as a fabricator at Weather Shield Mfg. in Medford. In 1997 her & Pauline Noziska ran Granny’s Bar in Westboro.   In 2009 she moved to Rib Lake and later moved to Medford.  She enjoyed camping, going to the casino and spending time with her grandchildren & great grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Lee Stephan of Neosho & Patti Jo Lamberty of Whittlesey; daughter-in-law, Cathy Schuppel of Medford; grandchildren, Barb (Clayton) Denzine, Dustin (Chandel) Lamberty, Andrea & Codey Stephan, Luke (Christy) Peterson, Matt Thums, Gabe & Christal Thums, Jason (Roberta) Schuppel and Lisa (Andy) Preuss; along with 20 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband, “Digger”, son, Glenn Paul Schuppel and daughter, Nona Rae Thums.
