Jerome “Jerry” F. Makowski, 82, a Township of Hammel resident, died on Sunday, December 20 at his residence under the loving care of his family and Hope Hospice.
The family would like to do a celebration of life gathering for Jerry at a later date.
He was born of February 5, 1938 at Chicago, IL, the son of Thadius and Frances (Nozicka) Makowski. He attended Cicero, IL elementary schools and was a graduate of Fenwick High School, Chicago. His marriage to Audrey J. Green took place on April 13, 2008 at Nevada.
After his education, he entered the US Air Force and was stationed in Germany. After the service, he returned to Chicago to run the family business, Real Sausage Company until his retirement in 2002. He then moved to the Township of Hammel. In retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, remodeling, wood working and making radio controlled airplanes. He was a member of the Highland Flyers.
Surviving are his wife, Audrey J. Green of the Town of Hammel; children, Nicole (Chris) Durbin of Chicago and Danielle Makowski of Denver, CO; step-children, Laura (Bruce) Ward of Mackinaw, IL and Gary (Ellen) Green of Florida. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; along with his sister, Eileen Witsman of Chicago. Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter, Patty Makowski, step-son, James Green, and a brother, Louis Makowski.
The family requests any memorial contributions be given in
Jerry’s name to Hope Hospice of Medford.
