ROBERT "BOB" C. SCHOLL, JR.

Robert “Bob” Curtis Scholl, Jr., age 85, of Medford passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 31, 2019.

Bob was born in Chicago, IL on September 16, 1933 to Robert Curtis Scholl Sr. and Ann (Kupec) Scholl.  He attended elementary schools in Chicago and Grand Junction, MI, graduating from Medford Senior High School.  He graduated from Taylor County Teachers’ College in Medford and taught elementary school in Goodrich, WI.

He met Marilyn Y. Taber while attending Teacher’s College and they were married on November 23, 1956 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa.  They owned and operated The House of Scholl Furniture store in Medford for 34 years until retiring in 1989.  Bob and Marilyn were married 61 years.

Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was a successful businessman and provider for his family, thanks to his many loyal customers.  He had an amazing memory; while traveling and at home, Bob enjoyed the many interesting conversations he had with people he encountered.  Family activities, traveling, bowling (sponsored a men’s tavern league team for many years and also bowled in a couple’s league with Marilyn), planting trees, mowing the field with his tractor and tinkering with his tools in the warehouse were only a few of his pastimes. For many years, he was also a member of the Masons.

He is survived by five children: Bobbi (Perry) Moore of Grand Rapids, MI, Kim Scholl of Rochester, MN, Lynda (Joe) Vick of Tucson, AZ, Randy (Lisa) Scholl of Medford, Cyndi (Gary) Ehrike of Columbus, IN, seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and daughter-in-law Donna Scholl of Medford.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, his wife Marilyn (2/28/18), his son Curt (5/5/18) and two infants, Robert Curtis III (7/18/57) and Carolyn Joy (11/17/72) at birth.

Cremation rites were accorded and a celebration of Bob’s life will take place at 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Community United Church of Christ, with Pastor Mary Jo Laabs officiating. Visitation will take place at Community United Church of Christ on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:30AM.
