DATE & PLACE OF BIRTH: August 11, 1917 at home in the Town of Browning, Taylor County

EDUCATION: Cloverdale Grade School

MARRIAGE INFORMATION: July 29, 1944 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville to Vernon W. Brecke and he preceded her in death on August 12, 2006.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: After their marriage, they moved near the family farm and Betty was a loving housewife, mother and assisted her sisters-in-law on the farm. In 1960 they moved to Appleton, where they owned and operated the Dreamland Motel, where Betty also helped Vernon with his milk route. They then moved back to Stetsonville in 1963 where she helped Vernon clean at the Dorchester Memorial Hall. She then joined the kitchen crew at the Dorchester Memorial Hall, Dorchester and later the kitchen staff at the Stetsonville Centennial Hall, Stetsonville. She worked in the kitchen for 35+ years until her retirement in 2006. Betty enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning, crocheting, crossword puzzles and crafts.

Past Member: 4-H Leader of the Pleasant Valley 4-H Club and the Homemaker’s Club

SURVIVING CHILDREN: 2 Daughters: Dianne (Jim) Sackmann of Onalaska and Sandra (Steve) Carmichael of Oconomowoc
1 Son: Duane (Linda) Brecke of Marshfield

CHILDREN DECEASED: 1 Daughter: Cheryl Lewis in December 2008

11 GRANDCHILDREN: Dawn (Jon) Fogleson, Paul and Bruce Sackmann, Dan (Becki) Carmichael, Andrew (Jessica Turner) Carmichael, Constance Thomas, Charlotte and Angelic Lewis and Travis, Ryan and Sarah Brecke
