Harold E. Gorichs, 76, formerly of Medford, currently of Fond Du Lac, passed away Saturday July 29, 2017 at Harbor Haven Nursing Home in Fond Du Lac. Cremation rites have been accorded, and no services will be held.

KENNETH P. FECHHELM





Kenneth P. Fechhem, 77, of Medford, passed away Friday July 28, 2017 at Aspirus Care and Rehab in Medford.


Kenneth was born August 26, 1939 in Marshfield, WI to Norbert and Augusta (Eckes) Fechhelm. He married Mary L. Ludwig on February 8, 1964 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. Mary survives.

He is further survived by his children: Norbert (Vera Anne) Fechhelm of Stetsonville, Mark (Kerri) Fechhelm of Merrill, Lori (Jim) Buehler of Medford, Kevin (Dana) Fechhelm of Abbotsford, Phillip (Kayda) Fechhelm of Stetsonville, John (Kim) Fechhelm of Medford, 14 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, Brother Tom (Gerry) Fechhelm of Wausau, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, one brother and three sisters.

Ken held various jobs throughout the Medford Area. He retired from Holy Rosary Catholic School where he served as the janitor. He enjoyed traveling and spending his winters in Texas, along with fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and testing his luck at casinos.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Sams Camping Club.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday August 3, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Father David Neuschwander will officiate. Burial of cremated remains will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Little Black at a later date. Visitation will be held at Holy Rosary Church on Thursday August 3, from 9:30 AM until the time of mass at 11:00 AM.

Memorial donations in honor of Kenneth can be given to his family, for designation at a later date.

KIRK A. KLASSEN

Kirk A. Klassen passed away on Wednesday July 26, 2017 at his home in Prentice, WI from complications of cancer.
Kirk was born September 29, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert L. Klassen and Elizabeth A. Klassen (Biwer), the second of three sons.  He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in Eagle Grove, IA and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy Submarine Force, retiring as a Chief in 1997.  He married Sharon A. Klassen (Kuecker) on May 27th, 1978 in Webster City, IA.   This union was blessed with two sons, Sean and Adam.  Kirk and his family made their home for many years in St. Marys, Georgia, where he served at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.  In 1997 they moved to Wisconsin to build their dream home in Prentice, and in 2002 Kirk and Sharon began living full time on the acreage they had improved for so many years.
 Kirk has been described as a Renaissance man and a man of service, dedicated to serving his country, community and family.  In retirement he was a proud member of the Ogema Lions club, served on the Board of Directors of Price Electric Cooperative and was renowned in the community for his recurring role as “Cleb” with the Ogema Players.  Kirk was a craftsman with a wide variety of interests including woodworking, stained glass art, cooking, automotive work, construction, landscaping and design.
Kirk is survived by his wife Sharon and his two sons Sean of Bellingham, WA and Adam (Dorie) of Lynden WA, as well as his brother Richard (Rachelle) of Desert Hot Springs, CA.  He is preceded by his parents Robert (June 18, 2017) and Betty (August 8, 2013), and his brother Craig (August 8,2013).
Memorial donations on Kirk’s behalf may be made to the Ogema Public Library or the Ogema Lions Club. 
An open house for friends, family and neighbors will be held at their home on Sunday, July 30, 2017, from 3 – 7 pm.   A private memorial service for family is planned in the future.

SHIRLE R. ROTHAMER

Shirle Rose Rothamer, 80, of Medford, town of Little Black resident died Friday, July 21, 2017 at Hospice House in Wausau, Wisconsin surrounded by all six of her children and other loving family members.

Shirle was born June 19, 1937 in Kennan, Wisconsin to Leo and Cleo Smrstick.  She was the oldest of 6 children, 4 brothers and 1 sister.   She lived in Kennan until 1947, when she moved to Vesper, and attended grade school, and middle school.   In 1950, at the age of 13, she moved to Westboro, where she finished high school and graduated in 1955.  She very much enjoyed school, especially history.

Shirle met her husband Eugene “Gene” Rothamer, at a dance in Dorchester.  They were married on October 8, 1955 at Assumption of our Lady Church in Chelsea.  They lived in an apt. on Clark Street, in Medford until 1957 when they moved to Reisch’s Farm, in Dorchester where they resided for two years.  In 1959, they moved to Holy Rosary Parish where Gene served as a custodian until 1963, when they bought their first home, a dairy farm in Little Black.  They farmed for 37 years until they sold their dairy herd on July 1, 2000. In addition to dairy farming, Shirle worked at the Ideal CafĂ© for many years.  

Shirle was a long time member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and belonged to a homemakers club for years.   She took pride in keeping a beautiful home for her family.  She was very creative and artistic. Her talents included sewing, cake decorating, Artex paints, wall murals and a beautiful plaster wall sculpture of Scarlett O’Hara and Rhett Butler from her favorite movie, “Gone with the Wind”.  She loved square dancing with Gene and rummage sales. She also had a passion for reading and M&M’s. 

Their children surprised them with a 25th anniversary celebration at the VFW in Medford in 1980, and a 50th anniversary celebration in 2005 at Molitor’s Steak House where they arrived “in style” in a limo and were greeted by family and friends.  In June, 2017 Shirle celebrated her 80th birthday with a small gathering at the family farm.
Shirle and Gene enjoyed traveling with their kids. Their vacation travels included:  Washington DC, South Dakota, Canada, Colorado, and Florida (Disney World).
After nearly 60 years together, Shirle lost her loving husband on September 18, 2015. She was a devoted wife and mother, whose dedication to her family was her greatest purpose in life. She will forever be missed and treasured dearly.
Shirle is survived by her six children, Judith (the late Russell) Hosler of Owen,  Victoria (Richard) Schaetzl of Athens, Pamela Philipp of Wausau,  Randall (Donna ) Rothamer   of Glen Burnie MD, Ryan (Pam Nelson) Rothamer  of  Medford, Melissa (Terry) Pernsteiner of Champlin MN,  15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren , 3 brothers, Leon (Elaine) Smrstick of Arpin,  Gary (Ida)  Smrstick of Arpin,  Gale Smrstick of Arpin, and 1 sister,  Sharon Lieble of Marshfield.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Shirle is preceded in death by   1 grandchild, Chad Rothamer, 1 brother, Kim Smrstick, and 1 son-in-law, Russell Hosler.
Funeral services for Shirle R Rothamer will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday July 25th, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with Father Michael Hayden officiating.  Burial will take place in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford.  Visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home on Monday July 24, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.  Visitation will continue on Tuesday July 25 at 10:00 AM until the time of service 11:00 AM at the church.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers:  Nicholas and Jacob Pernsteiner, Jacquelyn Schaetzl, Teneille Savka, Matthew Philipp, Amanda Rothamer, Chelsea Rothamer, and Chrystal Schoenborn.  Honorary pallbearers: Jennifer Tagg, Shauna Rothamer, Samantha Pernsteiner, and Shalaya Rothamer.

BERNICE "BABE" M. STELLICK

Bernice “Babe” M. Stellick, 89, of Rib Lake, passed away on Tuesday July 18, 2017 at her residence.
Bernice Stellick was born in Medford, Wisconsin on August 26, 1927 to the late Charles and Lena (Gehrig) Stellick. She attended Medford Elementary School and was a 1945 graduate of Medford High School. She furthered her education at U.W. Superior and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1949. She moved to Rib Lake and began her teaching career in 1949 where she stayed until her retirement in 1990. She went back to school in 1971 and received her masters of Science and Teaching.
Bernice enjoyed being very involved in the Rib Lake community. She was a member of the Rib Lake Lions since 1988 and has been the secretary since joining Rib Lake Community Club, WEA and the NEA, Thursday Evening Women’s Bowling League at Little Bohemia, and Tuesday Evening Women’s Curling Club. She also enjoyed hunting and fishing and staying at her cabin on Stone Lake.
Bernice is survived by a special nephew Gary Hosking of Slinger, WI, and other nieces and nephews and many special friends.
Bernice is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Elmer Stellick; one sister, Evelyn Francis and niece Barbara Hosking.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday July 22, 2017 at Rib Lake United Methodist Church with Pastor Mary Jo Laabs officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery I in Medford at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held Saturday morning at Rib Lake United Methodist Church from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

FOSTER J. " HUP" KALK

Foster J. “Hup” Kalk, 86, of Rib Lake, passed away Thursday July 13, 2017 at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk.
Foster was born November 11, 1930 in Rib Lake to Charles and Anna (Knop) Kalk. He attended Fawn Valley Grade School and is a 1948 graduate of Rib Lake High School.
He is survived by 8 Nieces and Nephews. His Parents and siblings precede him in death.
Foster entered the US Army, and served in the Korean War, and achieved the rank of Corporal. He was honorably discharged in 1953. He then went on to work in Milwaukee for a period of time before returning to Rib Lake to work on the family farm, and also Weather Shield Windows. He retired in 1985.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held from 3-5 PM on Tuesday July 25, 2017 at Hemer Funeral Home, Rib Lake Chapel.

DORIS A. HOFFMAN


Doris A. Hoffman, 84, Medford, died Tuesday, July 11 at Dycora Transitional Health, Abbotsford, under the care of Asera Care Hospice.
Doris Hoffman was born on September 4, 1932 in Medford to the late William and Agnes (Strachota) Armbrust. She attended elementary school at Holy Rosary Catholic School of Medford and high school at St. Mary’s Springs High School of Fond du Lac.
On November 13, 1952 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, she married Everett Hoffman, who preceded her in death on February 6, 2013. In her free time Doris loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed driving school bus for 30 years and meeting all the young people and working at Kwik Trip.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Medford.
Doris is survived by ten children: Charles Hoffman of Stanley, Paula (Gene) Varney of Goodyear, AZ., Steve (Cora) Hoffman of Quad Cities, IL., Barb (Tim) Ady of Marshfield, D.J. Hoffman of Rib Lake, William (Kate) Hoffman of Medford, Ray (Holly) Hoffman of Wake Forest, N.C., Mary (Harvey) Rudolph of Medford, Beverly (Mike) Endreas of Spencer and Andrew (Tara) Hoffman of Monks Corner, S.C.; brother: David (Joanne) Armbrust of Medford; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.    
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph, in 1956; two grandsons, Joseph 1973 and Joseph in 1990; brothers; William Jr., Walter, Jim Robert and John Armbrust.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Friday, July 14 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Phil Juza officiating. DONNA J. GLAMANN

Donna J. Glamann, 86, of Medford joined her sweetie, on their 68th wedding anniversary, on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at home, surrounded by her family, under the care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care. She was born on September 17, 1930 to August and Florence (Fruzen) Gorichs. She went to schools in the Westboro and Rib Lake area. On July 9, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Whittlesey she married Clarence Glamann; he preceded her in death in 2008. She worked as a babysitter until 1975. She then went on to work at Thomas Florist until her retirement.

In her retirement she enjoyed bingo with her lady friends, camping, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and held many offices, including superintendent of Sunday school. She was also a lifelong member of Klossner - Dietzler VFW Auxiliary 5729 and a homemakers association in Medford.

She is survived by three sons, Clarence Jr. (Barb) of Chippewa Falls, Bradley (Jan) of Minneapolis, and Craig (Lynn) of Medford; daughter, Susan (Don) Paul of Neenah; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Shirley Floryance of Milwaukee, Gerald (Barbara) Gorichs of Norwell, Massachusetts, Keith (Kathy) Gorichs of Medford, Jack (Joan) Gorichs of Medford, and Sandy Anderson of Lincoln City, OR.

In addition to her parents and husband, Donna is preceded in death by two sons, Bruce in 2007 and David in 2003, granddaughter Amy in 2010, and infant sister Betty.

A memorial service for Donna will take place on Saturday, July 15 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. Brian Mundt officiating; burial will follow at Medford Evergreen II. Visitation will take place on Saturday, July 15 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

THOMAS "TOM" L. DROST

Thomas “Tom” L. Drost, 82 of Stetsonville, WI died Sunday, July 9 at his residence under the loving care of his family and Hope Hospice. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 13 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville with Rev. Richard Russow officiating. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM that day at the church. Burial of his cremated remains will take place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
Thomas was born October 5, 1934 at Medford, WI, to Jesse & Eleanor (Shultz) Drost. He attended Medford elementary and high schools. He married Joyce Yvonne Handel on October 11, 1952 in Marathon, WI.
Tom was employed by Weather Shield Mfg., Inc. while residing in Beloit, WI until his retirement in 1997. He was one of their first sales representatives. His territory included southern WI and northern IL. He was successful in his field; earning awards for making and exceeding sales quotas.
Tom and family lived in Beloit for 52 years. He was an avid sportsman and had a real passion for the outdoors. He could be found most weekends with his family and friends. He enjoyed being at his cabin, the “Timberdoodle”, and was an active member of the NRA, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Grouse Society, and Turkey Federation.
Tom & Joyce moved back to Stetsonville where they became active members of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church. There he confirmed his faith in the Lord at his adult confirmation. Tom will be remembered by his family and friends for being a hard worker, for his honesty, his dedication to his family, and his love for his dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; children – Debbie Dorzok, Tomah, WI, James Drost, Bozeman, MT, Lori (Bill) Peters, West Salem, WI, Jeff (Cindy) Drost, Beloit, WI, Dan (Jodi) Drost, Medford, WI; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and his sister Jessie Meek of Venice, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jim Drost and an infant brother who died at birth.

LEONARD J. KOFLER

Leonard J. Kofler, 93, of Rib Lake, passed away Thursday July 6, 2017 at Aspirus Care and Rehab in Medford.
Leonard was born March 17, 1924 in Rib Lake to Virgil and Mary (Hartman) Kofler. He is a graduate of Rib Lake High School. Leonard married Emily M. Szczurek on November 29, 1947 at St. John the Baptist Church in Rib Lake. Emily preceded Leonard in death on January 15, 2017.
He is survived by his Children: Marie (Dale) Lindwall of Wausau, Michael (Kathy) Kofler of Prentice, Peter Kofler of Marshfield, 8 Grandchildren and 8 Great Great Grandchildren, and Sisters: Leona Kellerman and Monica Kofler.
Leonard is further preceded in death by his Parents, Daughter Vickie Wudi, and Siblings: Augustine, Ervin, Lawrence, Caroline and Cecelia.
Leonard worked for Hurd Manufacturing and Gem Products on the production lines. He also owned a dairy farm in Rib Lake with his wife Emily. He enjoyed listening to polka music and playing horseshoes, and was active in several horse shoe leagues in Rib Lake.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
A private Funeral Mass will be held Monday July 10, 2017 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Father Otto Bucher will officiate. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.

DONALD C. RODMAN, SR.




Donald Charles Rodman, Sr., 81, of Rib Lake, died Friday June 30, 2017 at Colonial House Nursing Home in Colby.
Donald was born October 12, 1935 in Athens, WI to Raymond and Matilda (Pecher) Rodman. He married Patricia E. Welch on May 29, 1965 in Pine City, IL. Patricia precedes him in death.
He is survived by his sons: Donald “Corky” (Kari) Rodman of Rib Lake, Ray Rodman of Westboro, Grandchildren: Colton “Brutus” Tibbets, Samantha and Emily Rodman, Sister: Darlene (Jim) Sodoma of Athens, Nephew: Jimmy (Tiffany Schreiner) of Athens and Niece: Lisa (Jim Judnic) Sodoma of Rib Lake. He is further survived by many cousins.

Donald served his country in the US Army. He drove in the motor pool and was also a rifleman. He was stationed in Germany.
Donald drove semi-truck over the road for Weather Shield, and then drove for Timberline Trucking. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He retired in 1985 due to health complications. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling on bus trips to casinos, and chatting with friends at Jim and Gloria’s Drive In.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday July 8, 2017 at First Lutheran Church in Westboro. Rev. Dr. Bob Giese will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12 Noon until the time of service at 2:00 PM. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service, burial of cremated remains will take place at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Donald can be given to First Lutheran Church of Westboro.

STELLA PENDERGAST


Stella Pendergast, 89, of Goodyear, AZ, formerly of Rib Lake, passed away Friday June 30, 2017 in Goodyear, AZ.
Stella (Bieniek) Pendergast was born in Rib Lake, Wisconsin on June 11, 1928 to Adam and Susan (Kuna) Bieniek. She married William "Bill" Pendergast on November 30, 1946.  Bill and Stella lived in many cities in Wisconsin during their marriage including Rib Lake, Medford, Milwaukee, Oshkosh, Knowles. Minocqua, Lilly, and Shawano.  During their retirement years they traveled to Texas to avoid the Wisconsin winters. They spent 63 loving and happy years together until Bill's death in October 2009.  Following the death of Bill, Stella lived in Eagle River and in Goodyear, Arizona.

Stella was devoted to raising her family of four boys and four girls. Her children include, Dan Pendergast, Judy Pendergast, Kathy Klein, John Pendergast, Mark Pendergast, Carol Nelson, Dave Pendergast  and Kris VanNatta. She also leaves behind a legacy of twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Stella is survived by three sisters: Mary DeBruin, Eva Matheus (William), and Katherine Chase. She is preceded in death by one sister: Helen Surek and four brothers: Anton, Adam, John and Frank Bieniek.

Although she is gone from this world, she will always be in our hearts.


A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday July 7, 2017 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake with Father Otto Bucher officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday morning at Good Shepherd Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM
