MARRIAGE INFORMATION: June 12, 1957 to Dorthy Tischendorf and she preceded him in death on April 13, 1989.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: A life long farmer, he purchased his farm next to the family farm in Dorchester. Upon the death of his parents, he added their family farm with the help of his brother during which it became a Century Farm. He served 2 years in the US Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Upon his retirement in 1989, he moved to Marshfield to be closer to family.
Joseph was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge of Owen until 2009 and a former member of the Central Wisconsin Concertina Club from 1993-2007. Joseph was a private man who always had time for a friendly chat. As a giver of his time and talents, he made many woodworking projects, played his concertina for various events and volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 13 years as an escort, accumulating over 9000 hours of service.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: Prior to moving to Taylor County almost seventy years ago, Orie worked in Wausau, Chicago and Rockford. They resided and farmed in the town of Little Black for a period of years. He also worked in Hurd Millwork in Medford for 20 years. But he’s probably best remembered for the volunteer work he did in the community; he was a volunteer driver for Taylor County’s Division of Human Services for several years after retiring from farming, taking residents to doctors’ appointments or other places for services. An active founding member of First Baptist Church, he was very involved in the congregation serving on various boards and committees. A loving husband, devoted father, proud grandpa and trusted, caring friend, Orie Krohn now rests in heavenly peace.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: He enlisted in the Army Signal Corps in 1941 prior to the outbreak of hostilities and was honorably discharged in 1945 at the rank of sergeant. He moved to Medford in 1946 and was a Chemist for the Medford Cooperative Creamery, which later became Consolidated Badger. From 1968-1982 he was plant manager at Foremost McKesson and from 1982-1985 he was plant manager at Dairy Monitoring of America. In 1985 John was a Plant Manager at Maple Island until his retirement on September 1, 1987. John was an avid reader with a special interest in American History and Political Science.
