PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: Edward served in the U.S. Navy from 1947 to 1950. After returning home from the service he owned and operated a dairy farm in the Township of Westboro from 1950 until the time of his death. He also worked at the Milk Plant in Westboro for a number of years. Edward ran a paver for Payne & Dolan in Madison for 25 years. He worked for Reliance Black Topping in Madison for a number of years. He was a boxer during his time in the service. Edward and his wife also fostered five children, Betty, Stella, Sandy, John and Allan. He enjoyed playing cards, watching the Packers, fishing,his aquariums and he loved his “Puppy”.

Ella was a Sacristan for Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Rib Lake. In her retirement she volunteered at the church and the Golden Living Center, Rib Lake as a Eucharistic Minister. Ella also started the Masses at the nursing home and the weekly Rosary Service. She enjoyed gardening, apples, knitting and quilting.

MARGARET A. RIEHLE

Margaret A. Riehle, 86, died Monday, February 10th, 2014 at Memorial Nursing Home Center in Medford where she had resided for the past two years and under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Margaret A. Heinz was born on January 5, 1928 in Medford to Jacob and Emma (Maiden Name: Brunner) Heinz. She attended Medford area schools and was a graduate of Medford High School.

Her marriage to George A. Riehle took place on April 17, 1948 at Medford and he preceded her in death on May 10, 2002. They moved to the Milwaukee area and later returned to the Gad area where they farmed for 35 years. In addition to farming, she worked at the Medford Nursing Home. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery work. Margaret was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Stetsonville.

Survivors include two daughters, Vera Ann Block of Stetsonville, and Dawn (Randall) Swacker of Jacksonville FL, two sons Val Riehle of the Township of Goodrich and Everett (Martha) Riehle of Eau Claire, three granddaughters, Kristine Woebbeking of Medford, Melissa (Roger) Petrick of Medford, and Tammy (David) Price of Jacksonville, Florida. Sister, Mary Blakemore of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, husband George Riehle, sisters Lucille Kleiber, Bertha Backstrom, brother Bill Heinz and son-in-law Warren Block.

Funeral Services for Margaret will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 13 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford with visitation being from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 13 at the Funeral Home. Father Gerard Willger officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Great Grandchildren: Trenton and Trevor Woebbeking and Kyle and Kelly Petrick. Cremainal Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Stetsonville Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Margaret’s family to be designated at a later date. Hemer Funeral Service of Medford is assisting the family with arrangements.

MARRIAGE: November 23, 1946 at San Francisco, CA to Beatrice “Bea” E. Niemuth and she preceded him in death January 21, 2013

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: After his education he worked in Chicago @ White Oak Farms until entering the US Army, veteran of WW II. After the military, he worked in Chicago @ Cornell Farms until 1953 when they moved to a dairy farm in the Town of Deer Creek. They later purchased a dairy farm in the Town of Little Black which they operated until moving to Stetsonville in 1996. While farming he worked for the Taylor Co. Highway Dept. and Niemuth Implement Co. until 1984. He enjoyed playing trumpet with area bands in his early years and playing Taps at many local military funerals, woodworking, singing, gardening, fishing, playing cards, was an avid sports fan. He sang solo’s at funerals and weddings. He was the BBQ chicken cook at the annual Stetsonville fireman’s picnic for years.

MEMBER OF: Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville where he was in the church choir, a past council president and president of the cemetery committee; Stetsonville American Legion; Liberty school board

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: After his education, he served in the US Navy from 1943-1946 repairing airplanes in the Aleutian Islands during WW II. After the service, he began a career in radio at WLDY in Ladysmith. In 1955 they moved to Medford where he co-owned and worked as a general manager for WIGM Radio Station until his retirement in 1989. Following his retirement, they moved to Tony, WI where they enjoyed 13 years of fishing & woodworking until returning to Medford in 2002.

MEMBER OF: Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford; Served as president of the Medford Lions Club and Kiwanis Club of Medford. He was a Grand Knight of the Medford Knights of Columbus & active in the United Way of Taylor County.
