PRINCIPLE EVENTS IN LIFE: After his education, he worked at the Medford A & P Store. Then he entered the US Army and was a veteran of WW II having served as a Staff Sgt. In the Army Corps of Engineers in Italy, Southern France, Rhine, Central Europe and Africa. He received a Silver Star, Purple Heart and numerous other military awards. After the service, he took over his father’s bar in Medford and ran it as Bud’s Bar until he met the love of his life, Gert, at which time it became Bud & Gert’s Bar. A true love story began then & continued for over 60 years. Bud also worked as a bricklayer & mason foreman until his retirement in 1982. In retirement, he picked up woodworking as a hobby and made beautiful furniture for his family. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, snowmobiling & sports all while having a cold one with friends & family. Above all, Bud was a loving husband & father. You are so deeply loved & will be greatly missed…Husband, Father, Friend, Hero – Until our next 10 to 10.

BLAKE C. WISNIEWSKI



Blake C. Wisniewski, 24, of Stetsonville, passed away Saturday April 28, 2018 at Aspirus Medford Hospital.
Blake was born August 29, 1993 in Marshfield to Roy and Florence “Midge” (Charles) Wisniewski. He is a 2012 graduate from Medford Area Sr High School.
Blake is survived by his Parents, FiancĂ© Kari Hrdina of Stetsonville, Daughter Blair Wisniewski, Brother Dane (Heather) Wisniewski of Mosinee, Niece and Nephew Natasha and Kolton, Grandmothers Bernice Wisniewski of Gilman, Florence Carlisle of Medford, Godparents Geraldine and David Cunningham of Gilman, and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, numerous nieces and nephews on his fiancĂ© Kari's side and friends.
He is preceded in death by his Grandfathers Leonard Wisniewski and Olan Charles, Uncle Clarence and Aunt Hellen Przybylski.
Blake worked for Monarch Paving from Amery, WI working road construction. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He loved all things with a motor and wheels, especially trucks and motorcycles. He believed “the louder the better.” He participated in demo derby’s and loved wrenching on those cars. He was an avid fan of the Tennessee Titans. He liked playing basketball and was an animal lover. He loved spending time with his family and friends, most of all his daughter Blair.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday May 4, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Father David Nueschwander will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Visitation will be held Thursday night at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford Chapel, from 4-7:00 PM, and one hour prior to Mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Friday morning.
Memorial donations in honor of Blake can be given to his family, for designation at a later date.

MICHAEL "MIKE" A. ROIGER

Funeral services for Mike A. Roiger, 83, of Whittlesey will be at 11 AM on Saturday, April 28 at OLPH Catholic Church in Whittlesey with Father David Neuschwander officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 3:30 PM until the time of a Rosary service to be held at 8 PM on Friday, April 27 and also from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Saturday, April 28. Burial with military honors performed by the Medford Area Military Honors Team, will take place at OLPH Catholic Cemetery, Whittlesey following funeral services. Pallbearers will be grandchildren – April, James, Angela & Ashley Schmeiser, Mason & John Bunkelman.
Mike was born September 14, 1934 in the Township of Greenwood to Mike & Genevieve (Chojnacki) Roiger. He passed away at his home in Whittlesey under the loving care of his family and Hope Hospice on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. He married Donna C. Lamberty on June 22, 1957 at OLPH Catholic Church in Whittlesey and they resided there ever since.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children – Mike O., Matt (Sandy), Dave (Sharon), Laura (Jeff) Schmeiser, Lucy & Dan (Patty). Also, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren & 1 great great grandchild. Brothers - Jerry (Edie) & Butch (Cookie) and Sisters - Mary Lamberty, Ann (Jerry) Judnic & Rosemary Heier, Brothers-in-law – Dan McCluskey & Romie (Lois) Lamberty.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Joan McCluskey and in-laws – Bob Heier, Bob Lamberty, Roy & Midge Lamberty.
He attended Rib River Elementary School, town of Greenwood and graduated from Rib Lake High School in 1952. He joined the US Army and served from January of 1953 until December of 1955, spending 13 months in France. After his service he worked in road construction and logging until 1963 when he joined the Medford Post Office as a clerk/carrier. He was a rural mail carrier from April of 1973 until his retirement in December of 1990.
In 1991, he received the Medford Area Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award. He was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Whittlesey where he served on the parish council and was president of the cemetery committee. He was the chairman of the finance committee when the new church was built in 1967.
A member of the Chelsea Conservation Club, he served as president and secretary and was a hunter safety instructor for 30+ years since 1967. He served on the Medford school board for 16 years, served as a Town of Chelsea supervisor for 6 years, was a past Taylor County board supevisor and a current member of the Taylor County Forestry Parks & Recreation Committee.
He was a member of the Medford VFW Club, We Whittlesey Whizzer Snowmobile Club, past president of the Taylor County Snowmobile Council and the Taylor County director for the AWSC. He was a snowmobile safety instructor for 30+ years starting in 1972 and was a member of the Medford – Whittlesey Snowmobile Derby committee. Races were held in Whittlesey from 1969 through 1975.
Mike was a charter member of the Whittlesey Lions Club earning the Melvin Jones fellowship award. He has been the business manager for Whittlesey Baseball since the mid 1960’s and managed the team from 1961 through 1979. He also organized & scheduled games for area little league since the mid 1960’s. Also, he was secretary of the Wisconsin Baseball Association for 33 years and treasurer for 10 years earning the WBA lifetime achievement award. Mike was inducted into the Central Wisconsin Baseball Hall of Fame in 2013.

REUEL N. THOMPSON


Reuel Norman Thompson of rural Dorchester, Wisconsin died on April 25, 2018 at the age of 99 years and 9 months, in the Palliative Care Unit of Marshfield Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones.  The son of Anders and Emma (Madson) Thompson, he was born on July 26, 1918 on the family farm near Valders, Wisconsin.  The family moved to Gilman, Wisconsin in December 1931.  He attended country schools in both of these areas. 
Reuel enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in October 1941.  He served in WWII in the 8th and 9th Air Force as an armorer on P47 Thunderbolt fighters.  He was stationed in Europe for 22 months and was discharged in September 1945.  He married Ruby Arlys Knudson at Hartland Lutheran Church in Hartland, Minnesota on December 8, 1945.  They farmed in the Gilman area until 1960, when they moved to a farm in rural Stetsonville, Wisconsin.  They relocated to Dorchester in 1973, where they currently reside.  He worked for the Dorchester Co-op until his retirement in 1984. 
Reuel was a member of the Stetsonville American Legion.  He was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Gilman, followed by Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stetsonville, serving in various offices.  He enjoyed traveling, sports and wood-working.
Reuel is survived by his wife of 72 years, Arlys; two daughters, Sharon (Bill) Stecklein of Derwood, Maryland, Nancy Thompson of Manitowoc, Wisconsin and one son, John (Jean) Thompson of DeForest, Wisconsin; one granddaughter, Tracey (Kenny) Gulden and two great-granddaughters, Ellen and Megan Gulden, all of Toano, Virginia.  He is also survived by many relatives and friends.  Besides his parents, Reuel was preceded in death by one son, Brian Thompson, in April 2012; one brother and two sisters, along with brothers- and sisters-in-law. 
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stetsonville, Wisconsin with Pastor Richard Russow officiating. Burial will follow at the Abbotsford Cemetery.  Military rites will be rendered.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Zion Evangelical Church from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be given in Reuel’s honor for future designation.

EILEEN F. KENNEY

Eileen Kenney, 79, of Medford, passed away Wednesday April 25, 2018 at her home, under the care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care.
Eileen was born on September 27, 1938 to Daniel and Dorothy (Stumpner) Anderson in the Township of Greenwood. She graduated from Rib Lake High School and worked for Dr. F.J. Martin D.D.S. and Taylor County Memorial Hospital. She married James Kenney at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford on April 30, 1960, he survives.
In addition to her husband, Eileen is survived by her sons, Douglas (Sherry), Daniel and David (Mi-Rose) Kenney, all of Medford; grandchildren, Brett (Tammy Linden) Jones, Gwen Jones, Tanya (Kenneth) Stickney, Ho Seong Myeong, and Ho Jin Myeong; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Ian, and Elli Stickney, and Tristan Webb. She is further survived by her brothers, Marlin (Shirley), Willard (Camille), and Everett Anderson; nephew Randy (Jackie) Gregory, and many other nieces and nephews.
Eileen is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Ardith Killbrew and Carol Heller, sister-in-law, Mary Anderson, and brothers-in-law, Larry Heller Wayne Killbrew.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial mass will take place at 11:00 AM, Monday April 30, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Father Phil Juza will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday morning at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 10:00 AM until the time of mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

After their marriage, they moved to the Town of Deer Creek and she worked at a countertop laminate factory in Dorchester, the Medford Laundry, for 23 years as a self-employed housekeeper, a housekeeper and nanny for Marv & Pauline Riemer and housekeeper at Sacred Heart Catholic Church until her retirement in 1989. She sang professionally with her friends of many years, Emil & Lucille Daellenbach. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, flowers, nature & taking walks in the woods. Our mother was a strong woman who endured the loss of all of her and our father’s siblings and endured many physical challenges with courage and faith.

ANTHONY "TONY" E. MILLER

Anthony “Tony” E. Miller, 46, of Whittlesey, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire. He was born on October 23, 1971 to Wayne and Patricia (Henderson) Miller in Medford. He graduated from Medford High School and went on to attend Green Bay Technical School. He married Tina M. Singleton on May 18, 1996. He worked for the Carpenters Local 310 Union.
In his spare time Tony enjoyed hunting, fishing, grilling out, and spending time with his family and friends.
Tony is survived by his wife, Tina; children, Jed and Brecca Miller, both of Whittlesey; brothers, Jeff (Julie) Miller of Goodrich and Matt Miller of Minnesota; parents, Wayne (Sue) Miller of Medford and Patricia (Joe) Spinler of Spencer; parents-in-law, Wes and Jean Singleton; brother-in-law Scott Singleton of Wausau; nieces and nephews, Samantha, Victoria, Matt Jr., and Gina Miller. Tony is further survived by many other family and friends.
Tony is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wayne and Norma Miller and maternal grandparents, Jim and Ginny Henderson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Father David Neuschwander officiating. PRINCIPLE EVENTS IN LIFE: After his education, he worked in Kenosha for a period of time. Then he entered the US Army and was a Korean War veteran serving as a combat photographer. After the service he went to barbering school in Eau Claire. He returned to Medford and worked as a barber and in 1961 he established Wally’s Barber Shop which he owned/operated for over 50 years. While barbering, he also was a volunteer fireman for 29 years, worked 17 years as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service & co-owned/operated Double E Car Wash along with his brother, Don. Wally enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing & cribbage, but his faith and family were most important in his life.

JERRY P. DOYLE

Jerry P. Doyle, 76, of Medford, passed away Saturday April 14, 2018 at Aspirus Hospital in Medford.
He was born June 15, 1941 in Medford to Conan and Marie (Beyer) Doyle. He is a 1959 graduate of Medford Sr. High. Jerry married Sandra P. McGuire on February 22, 1969 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford. Sandra survives.
Jerry is further survived by his children: Colleen (Cully) White of Pewaukee, Kathy (Kurt) Alexander of Medford, Grandchildren: McKenna, Drew, Macy, Carly, Cade, Ryan and Carmyn, Sister: Glenna (Richard) Johnson of Red Wing, MN, Sister in Law Shirley Brink of Medford, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, Son in law Dan Nagy, Father and Mother in Law Harold & Evelyn McGuire, Brother in Law Ronald Brink.
Jerry served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era, and earned the rank of E-4. He graduated from the Winona School of Photography and went on to take over his fathers photography business in Medford for over 40 years, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed golfing, competitive shooting sports, tinkering and cruising Easy Street in Orange Beach, AL.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Tee Hi Golf Course, Medford Rifle Club Clays and Trap, Esadore Area Lake Association, Stetsonville American Legion, Medford VFW, and was a charter member of the Medford JC’s.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday April 18, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford. Rev. James Krueger will officiate. Military rites will be rendered. Burial will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 PM at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford Chapel, Tuesday April 17, and Wednesday morning at church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Closing words will be said on Tuesday night at 7:00 PM by Jerry’s daughters.

GERALDINE R. HALVERSON

Geraldine R. “Gerry” Halverson, 81, of Medford, passed away Monday April 9, 2018 at Marshfield Medical Center.
She was born July 15, 1936 to Henry and Florence (Raymond) Paul. She is a graduate of Medford Sr. High and attended the Taylor County Teachers College. She married Harvey Halverson on August 15, 1959 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in the Town of Holway. Harvey survives.
Gerry is further survived by her children: Julie (Mark Hoffman) Simono of Mukwonago, Donna (Vince) Hawley of Scottsdale, AZ, David (Leslie) Halverson of Medford, Paula (Tim) Stroinski of Medford, Kristin (Dean) Remer of Woodbury, MN, Grandchildren: Alex, Mariah, Jessica, Maya, Noah, Great Granddaughter Josslyn, Siblings: Dick (Joanne) Paul of Portland, OR, Patsy Meier of Medford, Danny (Theresa) Paul of Dorchester, numerous nieces and nephews, and many other in-laws.
She is preceded in death by her Parents, Siblings: Isabel, Elizabeth, Clifford, Jimmy and Donna Mae.
Gerry taught at several different schools in Taylor County. She then stayed home to raise her children, and then went on to work for Taylor County Human Services for 23 years. She was an avid reader, artist, enjoyed baking and cooking, birdwatching, completing jigsaw puzzles. Most of all, she loved her entire family.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday April 13, 2018 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in the town of Holway. Pastor Amy Heinz will officiate. Burial will follow in Our Saviors Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford Chapel, on Thursday night from 4-7:00 PM, and Friday morning at church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.

LESTER L. MANN

God welcomed home Lester Leo Lawrence Mann on April 6th, 2018. He was born on February 17,1947 to Andrew J. Mann and Florence (Thums) Mann. He grew up in the township of Greenwood. He attended Rib Lake schools and was the first person to receive his diploma from the new high school in 1965, a fact he was very proud of.

Lester was a man of many talents. He played Dairyland baseball and softball for many years and he coached Little League in Whittlesey, Interwald and Rib Lake for many teams. On June 23rd, 1973 he married Velma Kasparek at St. John the Baptist Church. Together they raised three boys; Mark of Rib Lake, Todd (Jennilee), Roger (Carrie) all of Medford. He owned and operated Mann Construction for 10 years, then worked at Weathershield manufacturing before opening Mann’s Southside Auto and working alongside his son for 16 years until his retirement.

He was very involved in his family and community. He served on the Rib Lake school board and was a member of the Knights of Columbus- 4th degree and a District Deputy. He enjoyed the outdoors- hunting, fishing and pontooning. He loved big family weekends of camping and relaxing by a fire and was always up for a good card game. He was a wonderful neighbor who could always be counted on the help out no matter what, a trait which he passed on to his boys.

Lester was the oldest of five children; Harvey (Sandy), Clifford (Tammy), Wayne (Nancy) all of Rib Lake and Donna (Dave) Lind of Phillips. Lester is also survived by his wife Velma of 44 years and his pride and joy of eleven grandchildren- Jordan (Lacrosse), Cole, Kailee, Kenya, Indya, and Josiah (all of Rib Lake), Andrew, Nicholas, Annilee, Roger and Colletta (all of Medford)

A Funeral Mass for Lester will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake, with Father Otto Bucher officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 4:00 PM until the time of a Rosary service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Lester's name may be given to the family for use at a later designation.

STANLEY K. "STAN" WESTBERG



Stanley K. “Stan” Westberg, 80, of Brantwood, passed away at his home on Thursday April 5, 2018.
Stan was born March 2, 1938 in the Town of Hill to Kermit and Florence (Nelson) Westberg. He is a graduate from Prentice High School. He married Janet Barko on May 26, 1959 in Hinsdale, Illinois. They celebrated 59 years of marriage together. Janet survives.
He is further survived by his Children: Terry (Kelly) Westberg of Brantwood, Tamee (Steve) Westberg of Ogema, Jon (Theresa) Westberg of Prentice, Jill (Brian) Westberg of Gresham, Grandchildren Erik, Josh, Sammy Jo, Nick, Tanner, Megan, Andrew, Great Granddaughter Hayden, Siblings: Betty (Bill) Saari of Prentice, Gary (Karen) Westberg of Ogema, Marcia (Lonnie) Carlson of Ogema, Sister in Law: Carol Salzman of Wausau, his beloved cat Tweet and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stan is preceded in death by his Parents, and Brother Ronnie Westberg.
Stan served in the Army National Guard. He worked as a welder for Prentice Hydraulics, and was a foreman for Prentice Franklin and Marquip, and drove semi for Roehl Transportation. He retired from Marquip. He was also the owner and operator of Westberg Tree Farm in Brantwood.
He enjoyed going on casino trips, working his Christmas tree farm, spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, reading and all things outdoors.
Per Stan’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be held.

MARY F. GUENTHER

Mary F. Guenther, 90, of Medford passed away on Thursday March 29, 2018 at Aspirus in Medford. She was born on May 23, 1927 to Glen and Orla Gowey. She attended Medford Schools. She married Otto Guenther on October 10, 1945; he preceded her in death in 2003.

She worked as a homemaker and on the family farm until her children were grown; she then when on to work at Weather Shield for 20 years until her retirement.

In her spare time she enjoyed bingo, traveling, sewing, quilting, listening to country music, and watching the Packers.

Mary is survived by her children, Galen (Lorraine) Guenther of Ladysmith, Harvey Guenther of Medford, Jim (Diane Frokjer) Guenther of Forrest Lake, MN, Kevin (Martha) Guenther of Hudson, and Pam (John) Jacoy of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren, Ann (Tim) Nolan, April Guenther, Tracy Wojcik, Kristy (Jasper) Johnson, Erika Guenther and Kierstin Guenther.

In addition to her parents and husband Mary is preceded in death by her daughter Judith Guenther, great-grandson Taylor Nolan, all of her siblings, and daughter in law, Rose Guenther.

A memorial service will take place at Our Saviour’s Lutheran church in Holway on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 12:00 PM. Visitation will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM.
