LESTER L. MANN

God welcomed home Lester Leo Lawrence Mann on April 6th, 2018. He was born on February 17,1947 to Andrew J. Mann and Florence (Thums) Mann. He grew up in the township of Greenwood. He attended Rib Lake schools and was the first person to receive his diploma from the new high school in 1965, a fact he was very proud of.

Lester was a man of many talents. He played Dairyland baseball and softball for many years and he coached Little League in Whittlesey, Interwald and Rib Lake for many teams. On June 23rd, 1973 he married Velma Kasparek at St. John the Baptist Church. Together they raised three boys; Mark of Rib Lake, Todd (Jennilee), Roger (Carrie) all of Medford. He owned and operated Mann Construction for 10 years, then worked at Weathershield manufacturing before opening Mann’s Southside Auto and working alongside his son for 16 years until his retirement.

He was very involved in his family and community. He served on the Rib Lake school board and was a member of the Knights of Columbus- 4th degree and a District Deputy. He enjoyed the outdoors- hunting, fishing and pontooning. He loved big family weekends of camping and relaxing by a fire and was always up for a good card game. He was a wonderful neighbor who could always be counted on the help out no matter what, a trait which he passed on to his boys.

Lester was the oldest of five children; Harvey (Sandy), Clifford (Tammy), Wayne (Nancy) all of Rib Lake and Donna (Dave) Lind of Phillips. Lester is also survived by his wife Velma of 44 years and his pride and joy of eleven grandchildren- Jordan (Lacrosse), Cole, Kailee, Kenya, Indya, and Josiah (all of Rib Lake), Andrew, Nicholas, Annilee, Roger and Colletta (all of Medford)

A Funeral Mass for Lester will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake, with Father Otto Bucher officiating.
