ELAINE E. GALLISTEL

Elaine E. Gallistel passed into eternal life May 13, 2017 at the age of 85. Elaine was born on Jun 17, 1931 to Edith (nee Nelson) and Sigurd Hagen in Ogema. Elaine was raised in Ogema and attended Ogema Elementary School and Westboro High School. She graduated from Westboro High School in 1948. Elaine married Melvin Gallistel on September 16, 1950. She went on to attend UW – Stevens Point, where she graduated with an English degree.
Elaine started her teaching career at Westboro Grade School in 1965. She taught in the Rib Lake School District for 31 years until her retirement in 1996.

Elaine was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, and traveling with family and friends.


Elaine is survived by her children Larry (Linda) Gallistel, Mark (Melanie) Gallistel, James (Debra) Gallistel, and Donna (Joseph) Dowden; grandchildren, Sadie (Tim) Ahlers, Gene (Bethany) Gallistel, Keith Gallistel, Melissa (Adam) Pesola, Rachel (Ryan) Kiefer and 5 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother Terry Hagen, sister Patricia Piggins (nee Hagen) and many other family and friends. Tim Ahlers, Gene Gallistel, Keith Gallistel, Adam Pesola, Ryan Kiefer, and Ken Kauzlaric will be serving as pallbearers.

She is preceded in death by her husband Melvin, her parents, sisters Mary Patrick and Pat Jordan, and brothers John “Steve” McDonald and Robert Hagen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, May 20 at 10:00 A.M. at Good Shepard Catholic Church in Rib Lake with Father Otto Bucher officiating and Father Michael Hayden concelebrating; burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Ogema. Visitation will take place on Friday May 19 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Good Shepard Catholic Church, visitation will continue on Saturday May 20 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at 10:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be given to the family for a future designation.
