LeRoy E. Tlusty, 83, of Madison, a former town of Chelsea resident, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, surrounded by his children at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, where he had been a patient for the past week. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12 at OLPH Catholic Church, W5409 Whittlesey Ave., Medford with Father Phil Juza officiating. Visitation will take place at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford from 4-9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, where there will be a 7 p.m. Catholic rosary service held that evening. Visitation will continue on Friday at the church in Whittlesey from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will take place at OLPH Catholic Cemetery in the township of Chelsea. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Tristan Douglas, LeRoy Tlusty, Joshua and Myles Oliver and Heather and Cameron Heiser.
LeRoy was born on June 11, 1935 in Rib Lake to Elizabeth M. (Pinsch) and Ernest P. Tlusty. He attended the town of Chelsea elementary schools and was a graduate of Medford High School. He married Katherine J. Spieles in Chelsea and they were later divorced. He married Barbara Helmbrecht and they were later divorced. After his education he worked the pipeline while residing in various locations across the country. For 20 years he worked maintenance at JCPenney’s, followed by similar roles at Harlan Sprague Dawley and the UW Hospital before his retirement. After retirement he resided in both the Portage and Madison areas. He enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the birds, fishing, hunting, bingo and puzzles.
LeRoy is survived by his children, Sandy (Sean) Heiser of Edgerton, Shirley (Paul Talboom) Oliver of Watertown, Jeff Tlusty of Madison and Sherry (Brad) Douglas of Portage; 10 grandchildren, Joshua, Kymm, Myles, Heather, Jasmine, Cameron, Tristan, Robert, LeRoy and Brandy; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and step-father, Theodore Molitor, LeRoy was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Annette Tlusty; grandchildren, Trevor and Lucas (in infancy); and a sister, Elizabeth Tlusty in infancy
