While farming, he drove school bus, hauled milk, did woods work and hauled lime for Herman Eggert. He drove bus for Black River Industries in Medford until 2009. He enjoyed visiting with people, puzzles, bird watching/feeding, hunting, traveling and coffee clutches. He was a past town of Hammel town chairman and fire warden.
