INTERMENT: Lakeview Cemetery, Rib Lake where there will also be military rites performed by the Rib Lake American Legion military honors team

VISITATION: 4-7 PM Sunday, August 18 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake where there will also be a 6:45 PM Catholic prayer service held that evening; also from 9:30 AM until the time of services at 10:30 AM on Monday, Aug. 19

EDUCATION: Rib Lake Elementary schools, attended Rib Lake High School, 1942 graduate of Monroe, WI High School, attended UW-Madison, 1948 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, IA

MARRIAGE: October 26, 1946 at Davenport, IA to Dorothy Koehner and she survives

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: US Army veteran of WW II having served from 1943-46 in Germany. After his education, he established a chiropractic practice in Owen which he worked until his retirement in 1992. He also owned/operated Scharer Evergreen Farms, Rib Lake for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, music and his grandchildren. He was a WI delegate to the International Chiropractic Assn. He was a city council member of Owen. Served on the Mid WI Bank board and the Owen/Curtiss State Bank board. Co-founder of Camp 28 Saloon Bunkhouse & Cook Shanty, Rib Lake.

MEMBER OF: Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake; Wisconsin Chiropractic Assn.; Owen Kiwanis Club; Owen Masonic Lodge; 64 year member of the Owen & Rib Lake American Legion Clubs; Rib Lake Lions Club; volunteer member of the Rib Lake Community Club; Rib Lake Economic Development Committee; Lifetime member of the Rib Lake Historical Society; Rib Lake Fish & Game Assn.

SURVIVING SPOUSE: Dorothy Scharer of Rib Lake

SURVIVING CHILDREN: Debbie (Mike) Turner of Rib Lake & Dr. Galen Scharer, II and significant other Cheryl Torhorst of Wausau; Grandchildren – Char Ann Sutherlin of Woodbury, MN, Kimberly (Doug) Lindholm of Lake Elmo, MN, Dr. Justin (Tina) Scharer of Wausau, Dr. Brandon (Christy) Scharer of Marinette, WI, Dr. Nathan (Krista) Scharer of Wausau; 9 Great Grandchildren
