GERALD "JERRY" S. HOFFMAN, SR.

Gerald “Jerry” S. Hoffman, Sr., 81 of Athens, died on Sunday, November 17 at his residence in the Township of Johnson, Marathon County. Per his request, there will be no public services. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield at a later date.

Jerry was born January 29, 1938, in Livingston County, Michigan, the son of George & Mildred (Jones) Hoffman. He attended Fenton, Michigan Elementary schools and was a graduate of Fenton High School. His marriage to Onalee K. Hill took place on June 16, 1956 also at Fenton, MI.

After marriage, they farmed in Michigan until moving to Unity, WI to farm in 1975. In 1988 they moved to Milan and farmed there until retirement. He also bred/traded horses, mules and bought/sold farm equipment over the years. He also served on the Brighton Town Board, Marathon County Fair & County Boards for periods of time. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards, spending time with family and friends.

Surviving Jerry are his wife Onalee of Athens, children – Howard (Debra) Hoffman of Marshfield, Sarah (Randy) Gregory of Spencer, Lynn (Richard) Hamland of Medford, Gerald “Jay” (Linda) Hoffman, Jr. of New London and Richard (Denise) Hoffman of West Allis. He is also survived by a son-in-law: Kurt von Besser of Hewitt, 26 grandchildren & 33 great-grandchildren. His brothers, Garry Hoffman of Florida, Glenn (Louise) Hoffman of Florida & Greg (Lois) Hoffman of Chippewa Falls. Along with a brother-in-law: Roger Bass of South Carolina.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Gerriann von Besser in 2009, a sister, Louetta Bass & a brother George Hoffman, Jr.
