HARVEY B. HALVERSON

Harvey B. Halverson, 83, of Medford, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at The Homeplace of Dorchester, surrounded by family, under the care of Hope Hospice.

Harvey was born on May 17, 1936 to Morris and Ruth (Smital) Halverson in the Township of Holway. He graduated from Medford High School in 1954. He served in the Army from 1955 – 1957. He married Geraldine “Gerry” R. Paul on August 15, 1959; she preceded him in death on April 9, 2018.

Harvey work for Schmidt’s Clothing, Paul Brothers Landscaping in Portland, OR. He farmed with his brother Richard on the family farm. He then went to work for Hurd Millwork. In retirement he worked maintenance for the Centennial Apartments in Medford.

In his spare time he enjoyed yard work, traveling, helping neighbors, volunteering at church, listening to polka music, hunting, fishing, spending time with family and taking care of Gerry. He had a great sense of humor and loved making everyone around him laugh. He was a very active member of the church and it’s cemetery association.

Harvey is survived by his children, Julie (Mark) Hoffman of Mukwonago, Donna (Vince) Hawley of Scottsdale, AZ, David (Leslie) Halverson of Medford, Paula (Tim) Stroinski of Medford, and Kristin (Dean) Remer of Woodbury, MN; grandchildren, Jessica, Alex, Mariah, Maya, and Noah; great-grandchild, Josslyn; siblings, Richard of Medford and Carol (Dave) Bovee of Weston, FL. He is further survived by many other family and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Harvey is preceded in death by his sister Marjean.

A Memorial Service for Harvey will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Holway, with Pastor Amy Heinz officiating. Burial will follow at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation for Harvey will take place at Hemer Funeral Home – Medford Chapel on Wednesday, November 20, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

Memorial donations in Harvey’s name may be given to either Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church or Hope Hospice.
