JACQUE L. HUMM
Jacque L. Humm, 85, died at 4:11 A.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Aspirus Care and Rehab Center in Medford, Wisconsin
Born January 8, 1930, in Bethalto IL, he was the son of Frederick and Julia (Olthoff) Humm.
On March 28, 1953, he married his beloved wife of 62 years Billie J. Lafikes and she survives. He is preceded in death by his parents and four sisters: Wilhelmina Apple, Alice Hartley, Ruth Havelka and Ruby VanMeter and a Great-Grandson Logan Marquis.
Jacque was a 1948 graduate of Alton Senior High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 until 1954 in the Korean War. After his discharge, he worked as an electrician for a number of years at Illinois Power Company. Jacque and Billie lived in Edwardsville, IL and later in Godfrey, IL where they resided for 40 years. In 2009 they moved to Ottawa, IL and then later to Wisconsin to be near family.
Through the years Jacque enjoyed fishing, camping, the outdoors and puttering in his workshop. He was a loving and attentive grandfather and was affectionately known to his grandchildren as Pawp. He was a longtime member of the Godfrey United Methodist Church and a member of the local VFW. He also was a volunteer at one time at Heritage Days, the Crisis Food Center in Alton and participated in the Walk To Emmaus.
Surviving children are Kathleen (Glenn) Wooten of Kingston, WA and Julia (John) Jast of Ogema, WI. 13 Grandchildren: Aaron (Danielle) Kaufman, Adam Kaufman, Jennifer (Reed) McBride, Joanna (Ben) Marquis, John (Kelsey) Jast, Jerilyn (Frank) Yost, Jeffrey, Jacqueline, Janette, Jordanna, Joseph, Justine, and Joshua Jast and 13 Great-Grandchildren. Also surviving is one Brother Robert Humm and a special Niece LaVerne Yeager both of Bethalto IL.
A private gathering is planned in Wisconsin to celebrate his life.
