INTERMENT: Mount Olive Cemetery, Westboro w/military rites performed by the Westboro VFW

VISITATION: 4-7 PM Friday, January 30 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford and at First Lutheran Church, Ogema from 9 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Saturday, January 31

DATE & PLACE OF BIRTH: November 9, 1929 at the family homestead in the Township of Ogema

EDUCATION: Ogema area elementary schools and was a 1947 graduate of Westboro High School

MARRIAGE: March of 1955 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Medford to the mother of his children, Joan E. Matheus & they were later divorced

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: After his education he entered the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in Germany. After the service he worked in Wausau in the timber industry & served as a Game Warden in Rusk County for periods of time. He owned/operated Green Acres Tavern in rural Medford. In 1960 he purchased Tombstone Tap which he later co-owned with his brother “Pep”. During this time he also farmed in the Town of Ogema. From 1962-1986 he co-owned/co-operated and served as President of Tombstone Pizza Corp. in Medford. In 1987 he moved to Nevada where he owned a cattle ranch until 1997 when he moved to Wyoming to ranch. His business interests included a golf course, real estate business & gun club. He was very active in the Republican Party, enjoyed hunting, farming, socializing & polka music. He was inducted into the WI Better Business Bureau, Book of Who’s Who, WI Business Hall of Fame in 2011, Rib Lake High School Hall of Fame in 2013.
